I really don't know. I have issues almost everyday and I get most of the answers here.

- I get up maybe twice rather than five to seven times every night.
- I don't wake up with headaches.
- I don't nod off in meetings anymore.
- I don't start to nod off at the wheel of my car anymore (!).
- I don't fall asleep in a chair right after dinner anymore.
- The pressure helps keeps my sinuses open and has converted me to a nose breather rather than a mouth breather at night.
- I have more energy for the things I love and the people I love
For me it has been an EXTREMELY useful tool!
All of these
and I've gotten some relief from anxiety and I haven't woken up gasping for air since I started CPAP.

If I'm on therapy, I check my settings to see if it's working for me. If numbers are good and I still feel like a crapmonkey, then I see a doc and see what else is wrong. XPAP therapy ain't the Holy Grail of fix its. Other stuff can and will need tuning up.

Here's my take on this, cpap is just one step of the treatment. There are other things one can do to make it better. Diet and exercise for one. A good bed and pillow for another. Some (not all) of the discruntled cpap users have just relied on the machine to"fix"their problem. I for one was like that. I am making very slow progress in losing weight which will help in the long run.

Most of us are already using a cpap machine. You have not been diagnosed yet, so you have no machine yet. You need to get the sleep study, get the results, get the machine, THEN give it some time to actually work before you decide that it is not working.
