WAIT A MINUTE!!!! Hold on! Time out! Flag on the play! 3D nipple tats? Really?? How does that work? Can they give you an innie tat to replace the wayward bassackward nipple? Is reconstruction being considered? You could have the perkiest tatas in the bingo club when you get old! Imagine all the ACTION your poor hubby will have to fight off! Tell him to start working out now.

And I'm a lot of things, but insensitive in a case like this? Naw. *hug* kick cancer's ass, Frog!

I am so sorry to hear this, C.F.!!! But I KNOW you will emerge victorious, even if a tad lopsided. Best of luck to you, you will beat this!

Hubby doesn't miss much, at least when he's not telling jokes.

First the bad news, now much better news. Ductal carcinoma, NON INVASIVE, Stage 0, yes, ZERO!
((That means completely curable, and no chemo--good, because my mane is very streaky by nature.))
Of course "lefty" is "toast", but Medicare will not cover the genetic test--FOUR GRAND?
I get to wait or go bilateral, so I'll probably stick Medicare for the other side right away.
The plastic surgeon goes in right after the boob guy leaves. (Tag team, and I'm asleep!) no second surgery!
I can get nice bouncy gel ta-tas all at the same time. MATCHING!
When I mentioned 3D nipple tats, the PA looked at me funny, so I may have to settle for the less
theatrical tint--or look harder, maybe take a road trip for the cool nips.
Thank you all for your loving support.

Fantastic news. What a relief for you.

Absolutely! I was worrying about lymphedema, losing my hair, pushing up daisies too soon, you name it.
I have the option of having the sentinel node on the left side tested, just for more peace of mind,
although we "can" leave all lymph nodes alone.
For anyone dreading the tests, JUST DO IT! Worrying has been the very worst part for me.
Then it is either relief, or more stuff to keep you busy.

Glad to hear that it's stage ZERO and that there won't need to be any chemo.

It's a shame that it looks like both ta-ta's will have to go. But it's good that they're planning to do the reconstructive surgery at the same time.

Good luck and I hope you have a quick recovery, chunkyfrog.

Knowing that this is completely curable will really help you to deal with the surgery and post-op recovery. Keep us posted along the way.

I don't know the ins and outs of this stuff but it sounds like your plan is one of the best options available. Ouch about the genetic testing tho... $4000 sounds crazy.

This link from Komen

Says that lumpectomy has the same survival rate as a total. Maybe an option, but you may have already decided, just trying to help.

My sisters and i were denied genetic testing because we didn't have 2 family members with breast ca. They said that if i was positive with the gene i (or another family member) would have developed it sooner.

Lumpectomy is not an option for me. I never had a lump--the mammogram was completely normal.
My ducts and nipple are involved, but since it is in situ, it is assumed to only involve mammary tissue--sadly all of it.
But no muscle or lymph nodes. I was lucky to have that little bit of bloody discharge, a very, very early sign.
