My cpap Resmed AirSense10 was hacked and turned off several times last night. Be aware hackers can find modems and turn off your machine in the middle of the night. Probably just a teenager thinking they are having fun, but still it messed up my night and my blood pressure. So be careful.
Anything is possible, but it's not probable. Not only would you need to find a vulnerability to gain access to do this, but you would also need to know the cell number attached to the SIM card to gain access. Knowing how to hack a system without knowing the cell number is like finding a key to a house without knowing which house it goes to.
Yes, you could theoretically find the house the key fits, but the odds are against you that someone will find the house. Likewise, the odds are against you that someone will find your cell number attached to the AirSense cell modem.

Wait... Settings can be changed remotely on these? I thought it was just the data got uploaded to the cloud....
I bought mine used with 0 hours on it... So no dme knows I have it... I'm hoping no one would have access to it then.. but IDK.
I realize I could just turn on the airplane mode... But in like being able to get that quick check of the report on my resmed

Just another symptom of tech paranoia.
Besides, there is no way to profit from it.
Unless you write a book.
Nobody profits unless they exploit the gullible by taking their money.
Spying on people is boring and can get disgusting.
If you ever catch somebody watching you, just pick your nose . . .
The reaction is funny as heck.

I don't care about them seeing the data... I just don't really like the idea of my settings being able to be changed...

IF someone does change your settings, simply tear them a new rectum.
State that you do NOT authorize remote changes, and demand that they stop.
Threaten to bring criminal charges against them if they continue.

sure... I get you... but how would I even know who did it? LOL
I kinda think I don't have anything to worry about... but yeah... Odd that this is where we are. LOL

I don't doubt that your AS10 shut down a couple times last night. But drawing the conclusion that it was hacked is ridiculous. Care to share your evidence?
Don't expect to hear from you again.

You just got trolled, big time.
The ability to remotely configure a device, is a feature that allows practitioners to monitor and make necessary changes, without the patient having to lug their machine in.
There are checks and balances in place to ensure that only those who shouldn't be accessing/changing devices aren't.
People aren't running around shutting and re-configuring devices.
If you want to be concerned about the real threat of "hacking", I'd suggest you read

It's got hacking I'd be worried about exactly. It'd be the be dme that this came from originally. Since the guy that sold it to me said that DME closed down... I'm coming to the conclusion I don't much need to worry about it

This thread is wild. I posted it and gave my reason and some folks just went off the deep end. Can't hear, Can't read or don't want to.
To be more clear I think some kid or some new person adjusted the pressure maybe due to some policy. The reason does not matter it disrupted my sleep. As a side note I mentioned that the data is not safe. Our government was hacked really bad this year. It happens on a regular basis and I prevented the remote possibility that it could ever happen to me. That was a side benefit. Until I retired that is all I did was Network. Making computers communicate on small networks and larger networks.
Personally I hope no one does this unless they have at least 5 years of cpap use. Maybe someone needs to monitor their usage. I understand some people have trouble using it all night. I won't say bad things but I use mine all night ever night for about 35 years. I think keeping these things in a pressure range is stupid. The machine is not that smart and the mask is the weak link and can blow off your face and not reseal if it ramps and your pillow unseats for whatever reason. I did make the video and it has help a few people, its really helped me because my sleep is not disturbed by pressure events. One angle that is good about this new feature is if you periodically put it in a range and see where your pressure falls over 3-4 nights and make sure your daily setting is still close and proper, then put it back to a static pressure. otherwise that is a dangerous feature. most nasal, pillow masks cant take 21 you get over about 16 and you better have a full face mask. I love my cpap.
i came by to get a manual, and wow, man. no wonder i am a two post wonder

You can often get a good feel for one's skill level and expertise in any given discipline by the language they use when discussing it.
Somebody with a networking and security background would simply not describe the security issues as you have. I doubt that you have skills beyond that of a casual computer user.
But on the off-chance that you are familiar with computer security and hacking, and were just "dumbing things down" for the non-technical reader, feel free to be more specific.
I would love to hear the evidence you have that your machine was hacked by some kid, or even some of the details of the government hackings. Please be specific, and don't worry about being too technical, and the terminology or details going over my head. I can assure you, I am intimately familiar with computer networking, security and forensics, with a long history of experience and current skills.
