I'm going to investigate stents and tubes before considering the surgery, as they are reversible. Hot packs are keeping the infections at bay so far.

This is a little late on the forum, but I had this surgery about 7 months ago after many reacuring tear duct infections. I aslo have a cpap but am unable to use because of the constant airflow out through my eye. Have been looking into purchasing either the full face or oral masks. Did anyone test either and find any resolve?

Sure glad I said no, I'd rather have an occasional infection.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add my comment for anyone that might come and read this and freak out thinking that you could not do a DCR and use a cpap. I just had this surgery and was able to use my cpap as normal from the very first night after surgery. I have had absolutely no problems and it works fine. I hope each person will find similar results!

I would imagine the surgery has improved in the last eight years--at least it should have.
It is good to know that there is better news lately.
Best plan is to check recent research.
