Specifically to ChicagoGranny:
This is the most disgusting and immature response I have ever seen on this forum.

CG you really should be in a better mood since your Cubs are in playoff contention. Anyway, since you want brutal honesty and no pandering, here you go. You are nothing but a cranky bitch. I will bet you are still holding family grudges for crimes that occurred when the offending party was six years old. You really need to grow up.

May your doctors continue to provide you and your friends with the answers and medications they all need. May they have only good, productive experiences with their doctors .... That's okay though. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion. Keep fighting for what you believe in.
Don't try to pander to me. Get out of your usual abode.

Don't be kind and accepting of your opinion? To present a different one? I didn't realize that was pandering. It seems as though your reputation on this forum has preceded you. As Julie said, your response was true to form. Well smack my ass and call me Judy because I would never have guessed it. Guess not all Grandmas are nice people. Such a pity for you. (Is that sufficient pandering for you?)

Granny, if I've told you once, I've told you at least once, stop looking in the mirror while posting your cutting barbs!

there's a rumor that I heard that "ChicagoGranny" is a shared account, beyond the "Chicago Gramps" you'll sometimes see in the sig line. either that, or maybe "granny" may just have MPD...
either way, the ignorance about the current state of the pharmacological industry is appalling, perhaps "she's" not paid for a prescription of anything out of "her" own pocket in many a year, and has no idea of the rapacious nature of the *modern* pharmacological industry..
one shining example is Gilead Sciences decision to sell sovaldi for an even
ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS per pill, so that a common course of treatment costs $84,000. Conservative estimates indicate that a course of treatment at fair profit should cost $150 to $250 per person, leaving this to be $83,750 of pure greed. Grannies friends, no doubt.
c'mon granny, get with the present, stop living in the past when penicillin was new and amazing!

Make sure to write that down in your journal for June 8.
It's the first time you have made a comprehensible post here in 2015.

You would do better to read a little further. Even simply written articles like
http://www.sfchronicle.com/business/art ... 317050.php give you a summary discussion of how this patented drug will
reduce the total cost to treat hepatitis C. This, despite the fact that SF quotes the list price and fails to mention that the cost for a full treatment of the drug is running $43,500 in the U.S. in 2015 - so the savings are even bigger than they imagined..
Do you really want to side with "Big Indian Pharma" who avoids paying the cost of research, the cost of clinical trials and the cost of FDA approval and steals the work and investment of another firm? You have a strange sense of morality. You are also impractical - this drug would never have come about if the world was depending on those cheating Indian suppliers.

that 150-250$ includes a *profit* over the costs of R&D, which includes trials and approvals and etc.

but, I guess it doesn't matter how much anything costs to you, eh?

Well I am Caucasian Julie and the country of India is about 97% Caucasian (3% Mongoloid).
So maybe you are the racist for assuming people of India are of a different race from you? I bet you purposefully stay away from the Indian-Canadian communities and society in Toronto.
Now tell me you have a friend who is Indian.

Granny, I know you are very good at it, but it seems like a waste of your time to try to educate the left-leaning forum denizens. They get the benefit of the profit motive (marvelous new drugs for one example), even while criticizing it.
We just have to continue to vote to make sure they don't kill the goose that keeps on laying golden eggs.
