For my taste, Dr. Oz would be a bit more credible if he didn't wear so much glitter.

Hmm, judging the effectiveness of a procedure based on someone's endorsement isn't the best method although understandable. Dr. Kasey Li, who would be number one choice for a sleep surgeon if I could see anyone in this world, had some interesting information about RFA on this site:
http://www.sleepapneasurgery.com/overview_adult.html
Basically, he thought that long term, it really wasn't effective by itself and needed to be done with other procedures to have any chance of long term effectiveness. This is based on the theory that when doing an extensive examination of the airway, that the problems aren't limited to just one area. But as an FYI, he did think that the MMA procedure offered the best chance by itself for long term success.
Of course, it always get back to this philosophy. Ideally, folks should give pap therapy an extensive trial and make sure it is totally optimized. But if after a reasonable amount of time, if it is still not working, I would try a dental device unless there are nasal obstruction issues that need to be addressed by conservative or surgical means.
According to the sleep medicine dentist from the ASAA board, if these aren't addressed, it can greatly impede the success of the dental device. If that still doesn't work, then it is time to find the best damm surgeon possible and decide which surgical procedure(s)is the best option.

I'm currently a patient of Dr. Dillard's (Sleep & Sinus Centers of GA) and genuinely like him. And yes, I understand that finding someone likable hardly means an individual can do what he/she claims to do. In any event, I scheduled the consult in hopes of getting a dental appliance as I detest my cpap. I'm currently seeing positive results with the resmed dental appliance and nasal expanders although I am experiencing some jaw pain that needs to be explored. Ideally I would love to simply opt for the RFA and avoid the dental appliance all together but I want to hear from multiple sources about the experience.

The Dr. Oz recommendation makes me skeptical. If he recommended that diabetics should monitor their blood surgar, I'd have to ask myself if that's really a good idea.
+1
That guy is skeezy.

What is your current situation and what are you trying to accomplish?
I am no longer amazed at how many people will give you advice on which highway to take (or avoid) without knowing where you are starting from and where your intended destination is.

He is definitely not comfortable with being interviewed.
Right again CF. Hmm, he said 75% of all patients are cured from sleep apnea. Wonder what his definition is of a cure.
I am still trying to keep an open mind even though a part of me is quite skeptical. I mean, the first physician who decided to do a septoplasty without packing was probably thought of as a quack. Now, hardly any ENT uses it for the procedure.

Hi 49er. How did your recent septoplasty and nasal turbinates reduction work out Have you recovered enough to draw any conclusions?

I just watched this video testimonial on their site -

He says his AHI after the procedure is 19.
If my AHI with CPAP were 19, I would be going batshit crazier.
I average around 1.0 and anything at 2.0 or higher is unacceptable to me.
