Oximiter? No.

Processed foods.

It totally depends on what it is.

I'm a foodie and cooking is a hobby. I cook all of the meals for our family. Am asked by friends if I'll cook things for their parties, etc.

If I'm going to buy cheese, I'm going to buy CHEESE, not cheese product. I take that as far as chocolate. I'm not about to make my own chocolate candies, but I'm not buying a Hershey bar (well maybe once in a while).

Primarily, I want to know exactly what's going into my food and for me, cooking is not a big deal, even if it's something very exotic.

"Natural". That declaration is still too loose for me. "Organic" can even be worse. Wild mushrooms are considered organic. Cultivated mushrooms may, or may not be organic. Wild caught fish is typically not considered organic. Farm raised fish can be organic. Veggies? It depends. Sometimes it doesn't make any difference if it's organic, or not.

At the other end, I'll buy selected pasta sauces. I don't want sugar, or tomato paste in them and lots of other things that I avoid.

My biggest issue is with preservatives and people. People will see "chemical" names and assume they're bad. Mixed tocopherols and vitamin E are the same thing. As you may be aware, all fats will eventually turn rancid. You need preservatives in those things unless you have a VERY big refrigerator.

Finally. Some "contamination" is inevitable. Spices top the list. I'm not going to cook much without a lot of spices and most spices are grown in 3rd world countries and exported to here.
