I also had the shingles because when I went to get the vaccine they said I was too young to get it. The insurance covers age 60 and older. So I got the shingles right around my 60th birthday GRrrrrr! My doctor said I could still get the vaccine even though I got the shingles. Only waited until the break out cleared up and then got my vaccine. I did not have to wait a year.
