We're probably giving the DME too much credit. They're probably simply lying for fun and profit.

I lost my original ResMed card, and went and found an old camera and used the card from that. I backed up the pictures on the camera card, but they are still there after a couple of days in my A10 machine. And the camera card is back in the camera, the pictures still show up, and the camera is only a bit puzzled by the cpap data on the card.
well, then, that's cool... based on your evidence, it's only the resmed s9 machines that are persnickity.
cathyf wrote:So at least my experience on the mac is that it's impossible to corrupt the card with the mac.
macos and win8 don't corrupt the data, but they do write index files, and the resmed s9 machines do a checksum on the card, and those index files invalidate the checksum, so, the machines refuse to work with the card, until they reformat it.

not surprising... win7 isn't badly behaved in that regard

A10 machines may not suffer from the same design flaw as the S9 machines. However, we do need to get an A10 owner to try writing files to the SD card and see if the CPAP machine loses its mind after that happens.

Can't I have to turn in my cards to dme. I don't want to risk paying for a 3,000 dollar machine.

haven't yet heard of a dme that cares about anything other than compliance.

If the SD card is totally destroyed, they can get the info they need simply by putting a new card in the machine.
i.e.
1) Lose or corrupt SD card.
2) Take machine to DME
3) DME sticks new card into machine. Machine copies existing compliance data onto SD card.
4) Stick SD card into computer with ResScan.
5) DME now has full compliance info for the past 365 days.
Actually, these days, the DME probably gets the compliance data through the built in wireless modem, which will work even if there is no SD card.
As a last resort, you can read the compliance data off the screen of any A10, S9, or PRS1 machine without needing an SD card or computer at all.

Also, I have the card latch slid over to writable, and according to disk utility it's read-only. And I can't write to it.
I'm puzzled...
