Get on e-bay or somewhere and get a replacement headgear for the next time this happens, so you don't have to get rid of your dog.
Yes, a prescription from your primary is good as gold

Once past the diagnostic stage you no longer need a specialist to prescribe. Some insurance does require the sleep study to be conducted and assessed by a specialist, but once you have satisfied that, you may resume having your health and needs prescribed through your primary doctor. Lose the specialist if he doesn't have your best interests at the forefront.

Somebody here helpfully pointed to Amazon. Search on "Blue Mesh Softcap Headgear Medium" in "Health & Personal Care" and there it is, $20, eligible for amazon prime. If you look at the other similar items, you can find things at an even cheaper price and/or something you like better.
If you have amazon prime, you can have that one tomorrow for $24.

Stock up on extra masks, headgear, cushions, hoses and other stuff you need.
That's a "no-brainer".
And, you don't need prescriptions to buy "parts"......all you need a prescription for is the machine itself and a "complete" mask.

For EMERGENCY parts, a doctor's LETTER OF MEDICAL NECESSITY trumps the insurance company's limits.
I have done this, so I know it works!

Thanks everyone! I guess my username expired, (it's been 3 years since i've been here) I had to create it again. Thank yoU SO MUCH for the advice. I didn't even think to look on Amazon.
The Sleep place sent me a "loaner" that I have to bring back. (kind of weird but whatever)
I will definitely take the advice given and after my next appt try to find a new sleep Dr. There aren't many near me.
