If it didn't require prescriptions, what's to prevent groups of kids hanging out together in abandoned buildings and having "mask" parties?

Remember, CPAP masks are a gateway device to harder stuff. If they start using the mask, they'll work their way up to the whole machine. Then they'll add the humidifier. They'll probably use tap water instead of distiled water and will be sharing masks. Then the whole increasing range of APAP, bilevel, T mode bilevel, and then the dreaded ASV (called "asvee" in the kid's circles.) From there, they go on to shady back street MRI clinics and even worse stuff.

Yeah...I have thought the same thing...like who in their right mind would want to spend $100 to $200 for the damned mask if they didn't really need it. I don't know about you all but I have a lot more fun things I would like to spend my money on.

Then we get the excuse "if there is no RX requirement then insurance won't pay for it"...but then I think about the fact that replacement parts don't need a RX to purchase and those are covered by insurance when going through DMEs that work with our insurance.
So insurance will pay for some items that don't have a RX on them....so how come some items and not the others.

Makes no sense but then again unfortunately there's a lot about all this medical stuff that doesn't make use of just plain common sense.
