Another one with Note 3 4.4.2.
May look at getting a note 5, but no hurry. I am getting slow and it may take me that long to learn everything on my Note 3. No longer concerned about staying on the bleeding edge.

About 9-12 months ago, we switched to Republic Wireless, using specially modified Moto X phones that switch back and forth between free wireless and Sprint towers, with free wireless as a preference. It works seamlessly, even in the middle of a phone call if you leave home (or a store or restaurant) and drive away in your car, and you never know it's even happening.

The phones cost $300 each, but our monthly service bill, believe it or not, is $10 per month per phone. Previously with Verizon was about $90 per month per phone.

They also have a $25 a month plan for people not often in range of wireless.

We use our phones a lot, along with unlimited texting, excellent photos, a little web surfing etc. I personally do a ton of texting with my children and grandchildren; and with MightyText on my Mac I even type out some of my long-winded texts on the Mac and send it through the phone. Although I am basically an Apple person, I find that Android and Motorola's software answers my questions or finds answers, announces my callers and allows me to answer and talk safely while driving with my phone never leaving my closed belt holster, screens my calls for emergency and/or family only during sleeping hours, wakes me up at my appointed time, exchanges data with my Mac, etc. pretty much doing what I would want from an iPhone.

And of course we ported our old numbers to them towards the end of the 30 day unconditional trial period.

Unbelievable but true.

(I understand that Apple may be modifying their future iPhones to do what Republic Wireless does now. Tim Cooke made some reference to it recently.)

Regards, Nate

PS - Because of the special set-up, I decided not to root them. You could call them "stock-modified.""
