I have had this problem but it somehow resolved itself or I am doing something differently unconsciously and it has solved the problem. I used to think it was a res to machine intake suction prob or perhaps the mechanical latch thing but I think not. My money is on the heating plate and res bot sticking together for whatever reason. Like they glue themselves together sonehow. So keep them clean I guess is the best remedy. When mine stuck they came apart best with a kind of twisting/wiggling motion if that might help. Before buying a new res on your own dime I’d ask the HME supplier or ResMed to replace either the tank or the whole unit. ResMed has got to be aware that this issue is out there. (I’ve called them.) AND they should be able to troubleshoot it and cover it in a FAQ. Otherwise I have found it to be a great machine and a vast improvement over my 10 year old Fischer/Paykel. Hope this helps.

If I were ever unable to remove my reservoir, I would ask the bullfrog for a hand.
After applauding, he would pull it apart.

This is a poor design. There are 2 small triangular catches on the top of the water chamber which lock into the Airsense 10 when you insert the water chamber. You are supposed to squeeze the tank to release the catches then pull it out. This can be hard to do especially if you have arthritis. I filled the plastic clips off and now I can easily pull the water tank out.

For the interim, you can probably fill the reservoir with a funnel Since I am not familiar with this model, I can say for certain.

That's for sure

You didn't even point out the amusing idiocy of "I am not familiar with this model" but "I can say for certain."

The true thing is "I know nothing but am compelled to say something anyway"

With the AirSense/AirCurve 10 models there is zero way to use a funnel to add water to the chamber. It's gotta come out.

Did you mean for there to be a "not" in what you said?

Maybe mr special is suggesting drilling a hole in the top of the humidifier chamber, and stuffing a funnel in that.

Might cause a bit of a leak, but hey, it'd be easy to fill... as long as the machine was off.

Yeah, might have a problem with some leak numbers if we had a hole in the chamber unless we fixed some way to stop up the hole.

I will admit that sometime the AirSense 10 water chamber doesn't always come out so easy and it's been cussed a few time.
I rather like the idea of filing off part of the grabber things on it and don't be surprise that with the next time the damn thing sticks on me that I will get the emory board out.

I have to top off the water nightly....and sometimes my carpal tunnel on my right had makes it a bit of a struggle to pull that chamber out. So between it sticking and my carpal tunnel making my grip weak...I can see that there may be some filing done in the future.

I just had my carpal tunnel taken care of last month on my right hand and it was worth going thru for the results that I got from the operation, no more hurt on the hand.

For the record, I have been scouring the internet searching for others who may be experiencing this issue. I have only had my Aircurve 10 ASV machine for about a month and it doesn't seem to have gotten any better. It is so bad that sometimes it takes both my husband and I pulling with all that we have, and sometimes we still can't get it apart! And neither of us are wimps!

So, it doesn't totally surprise me to hear that Resmed says that they haven't heard about the situation when it's not easily found on the internet. I guess since it doesn't look like anybody has found a permanent solution to this issue, I will call the company that sold it to me and see what they have to say.

As I was writing this, however, I was wondering if lubricating the seal would help at all...or is that a stupid idea that would ruin the machine? I am very sleep deprived and can't seem to think strait! LOL!

Be careful about putting anything in or near the water that could (eventually) leak in.

i can't imagine where the problem would be. i was told to physically push down on the top squeeze part while pulling it out. i don't see anybody saying to physically push it down and pull out.

I sometimes have this problem with my airsense 10. The water chamber needed to be replaced for other reason; this made no difference. I currently have a rental unit and have the same problem. I'd say it sticks about 1/3 time. Perhaps once every two or three weeks I have to use a tool to pry it out.

I'm not exactly a tower of strength these days, particularly in my hands and fingers but I've never had a problem removing my water tank. And while yes, it's obvious where your fingers go because of the serrations, I've never pressed down or squeezed the tank in the least.

Perhaps it was a design flaw that was later quietly corrected.
