Why Don't Suppliers Tell People About This?
Re: Why Don't Suppliers Tell People About This?
I autostart feature, but not the autostop feature. It was setup that way when I received the machine. The DME provider did not explain this and other features. I was on my own after I left the office.

Why Don't Suppliers Tell People About This?
Anyone else have an S9 that will not allow SmartStart? In the Clinician Settings, I can not change the setting to Patient. In fact, the option to change the setting is totally greyed out and inaccessible. Help........By the way, it's an S9 VPAP ST-A iVAPS, if that matters.Krelvin wrote:On the S9, if the DME doesn't mention it and has it set to the default of off, the patient would never know if they didn't get the clinicians manual. The only time is shows up on the patient screens if the option is set to PATIENT in the Clinical setup menu:
SmartStart—only displayed if set to PATIENT in the Clinical Setup menu
On my S9 this is clearly not an issue. I sometimes make a game of it to see if I can not trigger it on by holding my breath as I put the mask on. If the machine was still on cool down, it almost always turns on once I get a mask seal.Woody wrote:On the one that does have it I often have to inhale and exhale very forcefully to trigger this self start.

on the vpap auto, if leak alert is on, smartstart is disabled.qmcswret wrote: Anyone else have an S9 that will not allow SmartStart? on the vpap adapt, if leak alert is on, smartstart is disabled.
on the vpap st-a, if confirm stop is on, smartstart is disabled.

I tried changing all the settings I could find, in hopes of enabling SmartStart but "no go". I thought maybe I just got a defective machine. I definitely do not have confirm stop turned on.palerider wrote:on the vpap auto, if leak alert is on, smartstart is disabled.qmcswret wrote: Anyone else have an S9 that will not allow SmartStart? I dunno, the manual (page 23) says it's available in all modes.qmcswret wrote:I tried changing all the settings I could find, in hopes of enabling SmartStart but "no go". I thought maybe I just got a defective machine. I definitely do not have confirm stop turned on.

Re: Why Don't Suppliers Tell People About This?
Thanks for your attempt. I agree that it "should"be available, but the option remains greyed out on the "Options" page. Oh well, as long as I'm getting good sleep I'll be thankful for that.palerider wrote:I dunno, the manual (page 23) says it's available in all modes.qmcswret wrote:I tried changing all the settings I could find, in hopes of enabling SmartStart but "no go". It is greyed out in options because it needs to be enabled for patient.
That is done in the clinician's menu.

I was in the clinician's menu and trying to set it to "patient" but it wouldn't respond at all.chunkyfrog wrote:It is greyed out in options because it needs to be enabled for patient.

Re: Why Don't Suppliers Tell People About This?
ResMed has been known to change the way smartstart works between different versions of the software for the same machine. I know smartstart vs. FFM changed. Maybe other smartstart interactions changed as well.
