Wow, it's a shame this epr thing is turned off. I turned it on last night and it was so much easier to exhale . So much easier! I had a great night sleep.
Ahi was 3.8 but I can feel better with an ahi in the 3 s vs in the 1 or 2s. But this was probably due to me not being able to handle higher pressures. Air in the stomach . Now I can try to up my lower pressure and see how it gives then try upping my top pressure if needed.,
I have dropped the upper pressure quite a bit.
Thank you for bringing the subject of EPR up. It really really really helps me breath easier. I had epr set at two. Maybe I'll try 3 tonight. Thanks again!

I'm going to change the minimum pressure to 6 and try the EPR at 1 tonight.
If the doctor yells at me I'll just play dumb. I'm very good at looking dumb ...
setting minimum 6 and epr 1 is much the same as setting your pressure at 5.
if you want a minimum of 6, then 7 epr 1 would be better...
however, experiment around and see what you like.

from my experience last night while using the epr set to two , I noticed a completely different feel to my breathing. I've played with my minimums and maximums a lot and nothing compared to the feeling a had last night while using the epr set to two. Nothing.
I see it as a whole new ball game. A game changer so to say. Upping and lowering my pressures didn't come close to the therapy I got last night with the epr set on two.
I have a feeling my exhales were getting pushed back in me without the epr.
Who benefits from the epr?
Is there a subgroup that this helps? Old smokers, obese people or asthma patients?
It sure helped me! Hope it continues. Yea!!!

No real "subgroup"...just people who happen to like it and is more comfortable.
Doesn't mean that those people have to "need" it for other reasons. While it might help those people you mentioned it doesn't mean that a person has to be a member of one of those groups or have other health issues to reap the rewards.
I don't have any particular issues without some form of exhale relief (used APAP without any relief at all for months and months) but I find some form of exhale relief a nice extra blessing.
Some people like it..some don't....it all comes down to personal preference and whatever works to enable a person to get to sleep and stay asleep and simply be comfortable.

I feel better today and report from sleepy head said Ahi 0.57 and no obstructive events 1 clear airway event 2 hyponea episodes and 1 large leak noted around first time hit alarm clock to go back to sleep. Im wondering if should raise any higher see get closer 0 but having no obstructive events big for me.

The quest for zero events can be very elusive. The main question to ask yourself is home well did you sleep and how do you feel. Sometimes the extra pressure required to stop all OSAs and hypopneas will disturb your sleep. As long as I stay under one event per hour, I sleep well and feel good when I wake up, I'm happy.

Ramp at 4? Since 4 is the minimum pressure that will clear CO2, I Don't think that the ramp does anything if the min pressure is set to 4.
Ramp and EPR are strictly a matter of personal preference. You can turn them off, set them to the max, or do anything in between to your preference.
Some like EPR, while others (like me) can't stand it. The same goes for the ramp (which I also can't stand).

There is nothing to substantiate this claim. Some cpaps go lower.

Older ones go to 3. There's a reason they stopped making them that way.

As usual, you're making unsubstantiated, incorrect claims. some *current* cpaps go to three.

This post might be old but it helped me considering I am new to the CPAP for 3 weeks now. I went in and changed my starting pressure from 4 to 8 and it helped me tremendously. I learned how to go into clinical to change my settings on here as well. Thanks everyone.
