Ugh, packaged microwave popcorn is POISON. Don't do it.
Here's instructions on how to make it with a bowl and plate: http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/201 ... uired.html. Promise me you won't use any plastic plate or bowl!
You can make as little or as much as you want so there won't be leftovers (adjust the time by listening when the popping stops) Drizzle it with REAL butter (none of that margarine crap!) and salt, or mix your butter with olive oil or coconut oil. Heaven!
Make sure you buy ORGANIC popcorn, while you're at it.

Love my air popper! I put black organic kernels in it, and finish off with real butter and a pinch of salt.

Re: How To Save Popped MW Popcorn?
Gave up on the bagged stuff after reading about it. Got a microwave popper that I can put a little olive so the salt sticks *smile*, and pop away! Never liked that air popped stuff, couldn't get salt to stick to it, and popcorn with no salt is just a little bland to my test. Although I suppose I could get used to it, don't see any reason to do that *smile*.
In case it wasn't clear where this was going, you can make any amount you want once you leave the bag behind. A smaller or larger amount, and with a bonus of healthier ingredients. So most likely less left-overs.

The Butter solves the salt not sticking problem, and gives the good popcorn flavor back. The microwave bag popcorn while tasting good, leaves a coating on your hands and on your mouth that to me is a plastic coating unreal feel, it can't be good to ingest.RogerSC wrote:Gave up on the bagged stuff after reading about it. Airpopped is the most healthy, but I can't go it, UNTIL I add my Butter and Salt, then the trunpet from Heaven sound. Jim

Yeah, butter on popcorn isn't my cup of tea. It's good on bread, though...especially on the outside of a grilled cheese sandwich.Goofproof wrote: The Butter solves the salt not sticking problem, and gives the good popcorn flavor back. That was my dream during my CPAP titration. The techs were popping popcorn and pumping the aroma into my mask I might add that I do not crave popcornchunkyfrog wrote:Off-topic? No one has enjoyed the sublime fragrance of buttered popcorn?

Re: How To Save Popped MW Popcorn?
I love the SMELL of popcorn when I make it (from scratch - the cub scouts sell high quality bags of popping corn and we have an air popper) I hate the taste /texture. It is amazing to me that anything can smell so good and taste so crappy. I have made popcorn in all sorts of ways and it is still paper with flavouring.chunkyfrog wrote:Off-topic? Re: How To Save Popped MW Popcorn?
Modern popcorn is kind of tasteless. I remember popcorn tasted like corn (yummy buttered and salted corn!) when I was a kid. Same with those modern hybrid seedless watermelons. No flavor. Bah!
My husband has been buying organic broccoli recently. It TASTES so good. I never realized how little flavor the factory farmed stuff has.

Re: How To Save Popped MW Popcorn?
Back when doctors treated HBP with a very low salt dit, I ate many foods without salt.
One was popcorn, which I found delicious, as it actually tasted like sweet corn. Yum!
A few years ago, I suspected the miniature ears of dried "Indian corn" was actually popcorn.
I put an ear in the microwave. It was, and the kids loved watching and eating it.
