What does that mean "filter has to be covered". Mine has a plastic cover that I lift up to insert filter that came with the machine. Is something else needed? Thanks.

my impression was 'covered by insurance'...

but, like I said, they're cheap, possibly cheaper than with insurance, given the inflated prices dme's try to charge.

replacement pillows can be had on amazon, ebay and cpap.com also, there's no rx needed for mask *parts*. due to a quirk in the way things are, you can buy all the parts to put a mask togehter without a rx... in fact, some of the online places point that out? no rx, well, then just buy this, and this, and this...

of course, it's stupid to have to have an rx for a mask.

plain hoses are also rx free and avalable at the places listed above.

I don't have to pay for filters, my insurance just covers them, no questions asked, hard to get cheaper than that.

My machine says every month for the white fine filter you toss and every 6 months on the black sponge filter you can rinse with water.

If you pay insurance premiums (or if they're deducted from your paycheck), then YOU are actually paying for them.


Edit: AND, your premiums pay for lots of other peoples' claims, too. If the insurance providers keep paying for all the "covered" stuff and they need more money to pay for it, they keep raising the premiums. This is why insurance has gotten so expensive.......people keep taking as much stuff as they can get.......thinking it's "free".

right, recommended every month for your PR filter, every 6 months for the OP's resmed filters. bigger filter, more surface area, less frequent changing.

I pay less than $100 month in premiums and have a very low out of pocket maximum (a little more than $600). My medications alone amount to more than $1000 a month. Just this year alone my insurance is likely to pay over 100K on my care (and I'm not talking billed rate, what they actually had to pay out), so considering what they have paid, versus what I have paid to them, at the end of the year I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to a fraction of a penny I paid them per dollar they spent on my care. As such, it makes what I pay essentially negligible.

It's other people's premiums that are paying for me, not the other way around.

Any comments on using these in an S9?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that recommended not using the HypoAllergenic with the humidifier as it cuts down the air flow, but cant find where that was off hand now.

CPAP.com is having their Free shipping days and I am planning on picking up a set.

That is why I am asking. I can't find the reference that I think I read about them. could have misread it.

Medicare is making money on me, for now, as is my Medigap insurance.
My Plan D is paying out a little more than I pay them. If I need something, I will get it!
I wish there was help for hearing aids and glasses, but I guess they like us deaf and blind.

I'd suggest following the mfgrs recommendation, not some crackpot theory someone might have regurgitated onto the web somewhere.

PR is correct. With an additional filter there is an additional pressure drop, but the machine just compensates by sucking a little harder, and since the filters are made by the company that makes the machine, they obviously took the second filter into consideration during design, so I would be unconcerned.

I usually don't like paying for stuff that is covered by insurance, but when I order the disposable filters from my DME, they only send a couple at a time and they send them in a BOX. So wasteful.

I buy fifty at a time at about a dollar per filter at my own cost and change them every couple of weeks. I'm vaguely hoping my machine will last a little longer because its air is always well-filtered.
