Wow, a bit of veiled snarky-ness...
Yes, PaleRider certainly has a few quirks... just like the rest of us, but he's someone here I'll happily stand up for.
I talk to him quite a bit on SleepyHead IRC / chat lately, and despite him also being human, I've found he's an incredibly handy bloke to have around.. He's not a programmer, but he's helped me get to the bottom of a quite few tricky little problems with SleepyHead now, which I certainly appreciate. He goes out of his way to help solve difficult problems... even went as far as giving me remote access to his computer to get the CMS50I support working.. Think about that if you plan on using a new CMS50F/I oximeter before bashing Palerider.. he tested every single one of the test builds along the way to getting the new oximetery module working.
Plus he likes stirring me up, trying to trick me into doing something difficult-but-worthwhile, that he thinks I was too lazy to even attempt.
One thing I have noticed, is that he is very clued up on CPAP matters.. partly because he possesses good information search and collection skills, and part because he bothers to absorb it.
I can tell you he doesn't tolerate dumb behaviour or misinformation being spread. He can't help himself there... It's his nature to jump on that.
Anyway, the bottom line, if y'all can't say something nice about someone, do us all a favour, and don't say anything at all..

You should teach him how to do that. He has harassed and insulted way too many people here and everyone has a limit. It seems that limit has been reached.
Mark you are well respected here, so just keep him on your side. He has issues that are beyond the scope of this forum and consider that you are not helping him by defending him. Admitting there is a problem is the first step towards a solution.

From my reading through this forum there seems to be more than one perso doing harassment.

PaleRider is a grown adult human, and presumably, so are you... suggesting I'm somehow responsible for his training or behavioural monitoring, is quite silly.
I do not believe this kind of personal attack *CRAP* deserves any place in the CPAPTalk community.
It's a fact of life some of us here are more raw, blunt, different, have lower crap tolerances or are more short tempered than others... Our forum host has kindly provided us with the tools necessary for dealing with those we don't personally get along with.. Which you, dear guest, seem content to deny yourself of, at least for this particular online persona.
Please stop posting like an "anonymous coward" and tie a username to that angst of yours so those of us who find
your personality particularly grating can appropriately deal with
you!
Anyway, I just broke one of my number one internet rules by replying to an A/C... but whatever...
As for the original poster, to advocate that others should consider your advice to foe someone too because you dislike like them, doesn't achieve the goals you thought when you wrote your post, it only paints you in a negative light.
And did you really need to start more than one thread bashing him?

I am not saying that you are responsible for his training. IF you read what was written you will see it says that by "Defending him" you are not helping him. That, my friend, is what it means. And if he behaved like a grown adult he wouldn't be in this predicament.
jedimark wrote:It's a fact of life some of us here are more raw, blunt, different, have lower crap tolerances or are more short tempered than others...
So it's ok for you & him to be blunt but not for others? Hypocritical to say the least.
You are loosing respect here. First you say this...
jedimark wrote:Anyway, the bottom line, if y'all can't say something nice about someone, do us all a favour, and don't say anything at all..
and this...
jedimark wrote:I do not believe this kind of personal attack *CRAP* deserves any place in the CPAPTalk community.
Then go on with your own personal attack. Is that a bit of what you are? Hypocritical.

What I use for a username has nothing to do with his behavior and suggesting it does is not going to help him.
What I got out of this you are saying it is ok for you and palerider to attack and insult others but not ok for others to point out what you are doing.

We all support each through our strengths and weakness.
PR displays his strengths by applying his knowledge to help those of us on this forum be stronger. It makes them think for themselves while at the same time making them wish they'd never asked their question in the first place. That person should lurk in the background, reading the many posts on the very subjects which he/she wants to pose. Doing a search they will also answer some of their questions, eliminating the need to ask it for all to read, which runs the risk of being ridiculed and such.
By using PM's to ask those they feel will answer their question without pointing out their weakness they get their question answered and avoid criticism and sarcasm.
PR seems to be well respected by a couple of people on this forum as he used his strength of understanding the nature of computers. Something I lack. I can get to know him better, especially if he's able to tolerate my not understanding how to use a Mac I recently got. I've been a PC guy for almost 50 + years.
Jedimark pointed our my weakness of saying something ill about someone rather that not saying anything at all. I need to think more rather than immediately go on the defense. I go beyond listening to pointing out others weakness, while saying nothing of their strengths. I can do well by looking for the positive rather than going for the kill. What I think is a strength is really my weakness. My veiled comments serve no purpose other than to stir the pot.
I sincerely mean my original apology;
"To all that viewed my comments to Palerider for his sophomoric sense of humor, and sarcasm, and for engaging him in return, making crass and sophomoric comments myself for all to see, I apologize. I even ask for his forgiveness." I further amend it by removing the word "but", and the unnecessary justification, as BlackSpinner pointed out.
It's my intent to stop the feuding. Palerider - can we burry the hatchet?
I'll ask the administrator of the forum to remove my original post.
Pat

I'll side with jedimark on this - using "guest" as a name in frequent posts is the epitome of "anonymous coward." This was not a personal attack; it was a simple fact.

Anyone who has an objection needs to take it up with the forum administrator not me.
Another point is I don't care if palerider is a rocket scientist that does not give him the right to insult, attack and bully people; nor does the fact that I posted this as "Guest".
To insult in public then apologize in private is the sign it will happen again and to blame it on "Guest" will not fix the problem. I have never attacked, insulted, or bullied him; only pointed out that he does it. There are those here who think he is funny because he hasn't done it to them (yet).
Is that really the kind of members you want here?
I have lived long enuff to realize when I treat people the way they treated me, they don't like it.
This was not a personal attack; just fact.

Wow, nice deflection! You must have had a lot of practice at that particular behavior...

Why is the user name "Guest" any different from any user name here? Why would anyone object to Guest using the user name "Guest". So far anyway, no one has objected to my user name... or Pugsy's user name... or Kaiasgram's user name... or 49ers user name... or Den's user name... or Sludge's user name.
Guest obviously doesn't need the help of the members here so why is it necessary for him/her to post machine, mask, etc.? Who cares and why! Is the name "Guest" any different from any other user name here? Just ridiculous!
And because he chooses to post as "Guest", why does what he says make it any less credible?
