Factory default is for it to be set to OFF which turns off the patient's ability to see the onscreen data.
Watch this video and it will explain how to get into the clinical setup menu area

and/or you can also download the provider/clinical manual in pdf format

Actually, the sleep quality only controls what you see when you hit the info button, if it's off, you just get usage, if it's on, you get usage, happy/sad face and ahi.

the extended info is availble (holding down both silver buttons) is availble with either setting (except, of course, on the escapes, not sure what, if anything they say)

Sorry, I got my machine instructions/wording confused in my little pea brain. I was thinking "OFF" which is the PR S1 term and the term "usage" somehow never entered my mind.
That happens when I only get 4 hours of sleep (didn't get home till 3 AM last night and I had too many irons in the fire when I composed the above response.

I really need to go to bed now..maybe I won't be so confused.
Thanks for catching that error.

So to OP here.
Sleep Quality has to be set to "On" to be able to view the data on the LCD screen.
The default from the factory is "Usage" which is just hours of use I think.
Sleep Quality is a setting in the clinical setup menu.

Sleep Quality is a setting in the clinical setup menu.
but, you do get the same data when holding both buttons down, no matter what the sleep quality menu setting is

Then why if I turn SleepQuality to usage do I lose AHI and stuff from the LCD screen? and only get hours of use.
And why bother having usage and On as a choice?

what I'm saying is that what you just pictured there is the *only* change that the sleep quality setting controls. you still get the detailed data from holding down both buttons to get to the advanced info menu, and full data is written to the sd card no matter what sleep quality is set to. (there was/is a rumor going around that the sleep quality setting had some effect on the data recorded to the sd card.

as to why there's even a sleep quality setting, I have no idea, though my GUESS is that it's because they think that cpap patients are brain dead wilted house plants that can't handle knowing anything about their treatment.... so hide everything that's not important from them... important being "DID YOU COMPLY WITH OUR DIRECTIVES AND USE THE MACHINE ENOUGH HOURS FOR US TO GET PAID"... "push this button every morning and if it says more than 4, you've been a good little boy/girl".

That rumor was going around because people weren't getting any detailed data when using Sleepyhead or ResScan software when SleepQuality was set to "usage". All we knew to tell people was change it to "On" and then they reported their software showed the detailed graphs and we assumed it fixed things. So we thought it was needed...Maybe they weren't doing something correctly with the software...I don't know but that's how come that rumor got started.
Besides...it's a harmless rumor and hurt nothing to perpetuate it.
