I have a CPAP I've been using for some years. I'd rather not use it, but the MDs tell me to, and my wife prefers not to hear me snore. Lately, though, the machine has quit heating, and I've seized on that as an excuse for not using it at all. This is not smart; I'd better get the dadgum thing in shape and start using it again. Where do I go for help? I don't know where to start.

CPAP has quit heating
Re: CPAP has quit heating
Are you wanting to get a new humidifier?
Fix it? Won't be worth it as you can probably by new or used for much less than repair.
It all depends on which machine you are using.
Or do you want to get new everything?
What machine and humidifier is it?

Re: CPAP has quit heating
I can't imagine how a high resistance wire would suddenly fail to warm up (maybe the power supply stopped working?). It's probably a software problem; check your temperature settings.

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in after 15 minutes.

Break in said high resistance wire would do it. Loose or corroded terminal connection would also do it.TheChuckster wrote:I can't imagine how a high resistance wire would suddenly fail to warm up...

Not a good reason to quit using your machine.Tommaso wrote:I have a CPAP I've been using for some years. I'd rather not use it, but the MDs tell me to, and my wife prefers not to hear me snore. Nine years ago, when I first started therapy, I tried heated humidity for a night or two.......and didn't like it. I unplugged the power to the HH platform so it would never accidentally power on. Been using "passover" (cool) humidification ever since......all year round. Can't handle the heated humidity. Try it.......you may like it.
