"Except in cases of kidney or urinary tract infection (UTI), urine is virtually sterile and nearly odorless." The quote is from Wikipedia, and a number of other web sites that I checked agree with it.

Thanks BT. So when people say urine is sterile they mean urine is sterile if it doesn't have any bacteria in it.
Huh? Couldn't we say that about anything?

Well, this is an internet forum so I guess anything can (and does) get said.

If there is a point, I believe that it is that systemic pathogens are not excreted in the urine. I wonder if UTI bacteria can survive in the body if ingested or inhaled.

Urin is used for many tests. Many employers use them for drug screening, they are also used to test for pregnancy. Oh, and people do try to cheat on drug tests by bringing in someone elses urin, that's why many places now have to observe the sample being given.
I wonder how many truck drivers or athletes have been told they are pregnant after taking a drug test. Now that would be a dead give away you cheated if your not a woman.

I used a new water chamber so I put my older one on a shelf intending to wash it, but forgot. When I did remember, I noticed a pink stuff on the bottom of it which I assumed to be mold or something because I had left a little water in it. I only use distilled water so how did it grow that pink stuff? I now have it soaking in vinegar to disinfect it.

Distilled water is not sterile and no water will be sterile after it has been exposed to room air for any length of time. The dust in the air contains many things, including mold spores and bacteria.

A 50-50 vinegar and water solution might remove the mold. If the vinegar solution by itself doesn't remove the mold, swishing some uncooked rice and a bit of the vinegar solution around in the water chamber might remove the mold. Don't use laundry beach because it will damage the aluminum plate.
