Introduction - MikeT

Hi, just a brief intro.

Although I was born in England I moved to Sunny South Africa in 1984 with with my wife and (then) 4-year-old son. That son is now 24 with a 14-year-old brother. Strangely though, my wife hasn't aged at all in that time - she's still as beautiful as ever.

Like many people in this country I work in the mining industry. My current employer is a Canadian company so I need to travel occasionally to Toronto, but 'home' is Johannesburg.

We've just bought a holiday-home by one of the country's inland dams, so I'm looking for a speedboat so we can mess around on the water at weekends. The dam is about 1 1/2 hours drive away from Jo'burg but it's so relaxing that it's like a different world compared to the 'big city'.

About 2 years ago my doctor suggested I get a sleep-study carried out as my blood-oxygen level was quite low and my haemoglobin count was very high. As things turned out I only had the study done a couple of weeks ago - I spent most of the time in between in Tanzania where they haven't heard of such things, and anyway it didn't seem all that important

The results were of course positive, and I'm now looking forward to my last weekend of freedom before getting hooked up to a machine. I've decided on a Fisher & Paykel HC220LE - the humidifier apparently makes the 'experience' more comfortable and it seems to be the lightest combo around, which helps with travelling.

This forum is great - when I first browsed it most of my initial questions had already been answered in posts there. Thanks to our genorous sponsors for not pushing advertising down our throats (or up our noses or whatever) in return for hosting it

Anyway, this now makes three introductions - perhaps the other 68 members want to say Hi too?
