Swift on Back Order..................

Post by Dave » Mon Sep 27, 2004 5:30 pm

I was told today that the Swift is on back order with the manufacturer due to production problems. My supply company has only received a few of these and tells me now that they are still on back order(since August).

I was told the nasal pillows on the Swift are the problem. They are making and throwing away more than they package for sale. It may be respectable that they know the problem but what about fixing it. The problem has something to do with the silicone pillow not forming or molding right so some are trash(more than half that are made)...... ResMed is suppose to be a top notch company but what could take so long to fix. I guess you can see my frustration...

My concern, is this product worth waiting for or should I try something else, like the Breeze? He also told me the price may go up since demand is so high and supply is so messed up. That would really suck, and I will do without if that happens. Anyone have input to share or is my supply company messing me around?

I got the Swift Pillows but my rep only had 5 and told me they were back ordered also.

I love them because they are comfortable and do not block your face like other masks but the one thing they need to improve is the air flow noise. In fact, I wrote ResMed and told them and got a response. I have posted their response to my suggestion. Maybe this is something else they can improve on besides the other problems you wrote about. I was surprised that I got a response to my e-mail.........JUDY

Judy,

Thank You for taking the time to email in. There is always room for improvement. I do know that with the pillows, being there is no mask space the exhaled air needs to be exhausted quickly, hence, the 6 ports, hence more noise. I will forward on your email to our engineer team. Remember with even a slight modification, improvement, if any changes come about from our initial release, it will take time.

Sincerely,

I own two of your masks:
Mirage Activa
Swift
I love the idea of the Swift, its light and has hardly any equipment in my face but the "air vent holes" are very noisy. I do not hear the air vent holes on the Mirage Activa at all. That is the one thing that is wrong with the Swift nasal pillows. Can this be improved??????

Back Order Swift

Our Resmed rep told us that there are some ongoing Mirage Swift production problems that are receiving considerable top management attention. There also have been many more orders than Resmed expected. Bottom line is that production will continue to be less than demand for a month or more.

Dave,

The information you were told is accurate. I don't think you getting messed around, plus I see it from a supplier stand point and Resmed's problem is making alot of people react the same. Swifts are slowly making their way to suppliers, but not enough to keep them stocked. This is a hot item right now even with the problems.

The Breeze is similar and has been around a couple of years. Take a look at it:

Plus no noise issues like the other post mention.
