Resmed Aircurve 10 - Usage time stuck, or wrong amt, & spontaneously shuts off.

Post by Alpha.Beta.Gamma » Wed Jul 22, 2026 6:55 pm

I've been successfully using my new Aircurve 10 for the last 6 months. It's been a little erratic on amount of time I slept, and consistently reports a torrent of mask leakage (( 80+ Liters/minute )).
Yesterday, it decided it would only display a use of 27 minutes, no matter what. Checked the date & time it had, and saw it "thought" it was the same time of day, but, it was living in the future, the date was tomorrow.

Decided to ignore the time problem, and went to sleep. Woke up ? because ? the machine had shut itself off. It continued to do that. Did some middle of the night Google research, and turned the "Smart Start" feature Off, which worked, but clearly this thing needs repair.

Anyone with similar problems reported? The machine is a Medicare lease/purchase, and should be covered by a 2-year warranty. How can I get the company I got it from to provide a loaner while this one is repaired?

Does the contract with them provide for a loaner?

If not, you can ask. They're not obligated to.

First, was the time and date correct then jumped?

Is AM PM correct? Resmed machines switch days at noon so if they are switched you could be seeing a partial day. I'm wondering if it was reading a day ahead because it was in the wrong day half. That can also cause the short time reading if it thinks noon happened sometime during your sleep, it will start a new night.

By all means try to get a new machine, but in the mean time I'd reset the time and see what happens. It won't let you turn the time back without resetting data so don't do it if you are still in the insurance rental period.

The autostart issues you have are very common on Resmed machines, I've tried replacing machines in the past because of them only to have the new machine do the same thing. Sometimes it works for years then something changes and it doesn't work. I've had every possible issue, switching off in the middle of the night, switching on in the middle of the day, as well as not starting without a strong puff of air. Torrents of air leakage are almost certain to cause it to turn off, very high airflow is how it decides to switch off.

Well, date & time were set correctly, since I remember setting them up. It's spontaneously?, or due to over the air software update? Set it's date one day into the future.

I was able to reset that by turning ON airplane mode, and then erasing the SD card, then setting up the date and time. The machine didn't like any of that.

As to the contract, I'm ashamed to say that I have no idea. In fact I'm not certain that I signed a contract, I think the contract is between Medicare and providing company.

I do seem to remember that they charged Medicare an extra five or seven hundred dollars for the humidifier which is built into the machine and you need a special insert to cut it out. I might want to speak to Medicare about that eenie-weenie tiny error which comes out of our Medicare dollars.

Still haven't carted the machine in for repair.

Medicare knows about the separate billing for the ResMed humidifier even though it's built into the machine.
ResMed is the only manufacturer that does this and it's only been relatively recently (last few years) that the humidifiers were built in instead of a separate unit. ResMed is the only manufacturer that does this that I know of....and for years and years since they added humidifiers to cpap setups the humidifier was built as a separate unit so it has always been billed out separately.
There's no billing code for a machine with the humidifier built in that is different from the E0601 regular cpap/apap machine.

This is what is available for equipment suppliers to use when billing out the machines
