I am not sure that this is a start/hypnic jerk, when I looked at few definitions it says that the sound that jolts one up is imaginary/auditory hallucination
That particular "start" refers to "exploding head syndrome" (really-- there is such a thing) (and interestingly I have had the privilege (?) of experiencing it a few times, and it is the weirdest thing you've ever seen (heard?)) but yes, agree that's not what you might have.

Specifically, in an NPSG, there is simultaneous monitoring of EEG and breathing, incl. snoring. If the breathing has an anomaly (snore, flow limitation, hypopnea, apnea) which causes you to have the above episode, then you might consider CPAP etc. to address the issue (there's the AHI thing, but we'll cross that bridge etc.)).

If the breathing is absolutely normal and the jump happens out of the blue, then it's a "start" (really a layman's term). At that point, the other channels of the NPSG should be able to identify the cause. Some possibilities would include PLMs, myoclonus, and/or hypnic something or other (in order to be hypnic you'd have to be in a sleep-wake transition state (beginning of night or inherently bad sleeper), but again, NPSG would determine that.

my ADHD meds ...

I don't remember EVER sleeping well.
Well will you look at that...

BTW do you have "sleep specialists" over there?

And I don't mean CPAP factories. There's like 5 dozen sleep disorders and if all your guy knows is Sleep Apnea then you're wasting your dollars or Euros or kopecs or chickens or whatever you people use for currency.

Yes there are sleep specialists in UK, but to see them you need to go through General Practice doctor who refers you to a specialist (or you have to pay top pound sterling - not an option for me).

I was referred to ENT dr, as I said he seemed annoyed I was wasting his time as there was no respiratory events at the top graph. When you have pointed to me the solid red bar on my HR graph, I had a check - apparently more than 15-30 events like that per hour (I have easily more than that) are considered a SEVERE sleep apnea, if paired with 12 waking up stated on the bottom graph (normal is 1-3) and WASO of 5 mins (that means I am dog tired and hit the hay as soon I touch pillow wired with tech or not) then this should give indication that DEFINITELY SOMETHING is severely not ok (as you said). The guy was not concerned, he just discharged me from ENT care.

I asked in few places on the internet and it might be something called UARS (Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome) or even severe coronary issues - whatever it is, it is not get used to it or get back to your GP. Instead it is more tests are needed asap. If it is UARS then that is again ENT department from which the previous dr already discharged me...

I will need to call Medical Surgery tomorrow. First convince non medical secretary that I do indeed need appointment with GP, then hopefully get that appointment soon, then convince GP for another referral... This is last thing I want to do, all I want is sleep and feel refreshed, I am tired...

Except we did NOT (sorry on a flight) say they are respiratory events. Right now they're simply HR/PAT events.
