Just got my Lofta test results

Post by madworld » Mon Jan 27, 2025 5:31 pm

They said
Sleep Apnea Diagnosis:
You have moderate sleep apnea
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (G47.33) - Moderate based on pAHI=22.5, pRDI=23.4 and O2 nadir of 73% Sleep Related Hypoxemia (G47.36) - based on a mean O2 saturation less than 90%

My name is Joe
I have never been a morning person. even as a child it took me till 10am or so to feel 100%.
I smoked for 50 Years so my oxygen levels are mostly 88-93 normally. I have shortness of breath. that what lead me to the Oxylink ring. as I just learned about breathing and oxygen levels recently, was just ignorant.

I took the test because I bought a Oxylink ring monitor. it records my oxygen levels while I sleep. I noted they fall as low as 76%. it seems I just forget to breath. I set the alarm to go off at 81% but it seems it take me awhile to hear it at times. if I set it higher I get little to no sleep.

How does this prescription work ? and what is the time limit ? can I take it to other sellers ?

So I guess Lofta is going to sell me a machine. I just have no idea how this works. do I get to pick the model ? if so what to pick ?
I'm a mouth breather so any idea on a mask ? I've read here that can be tough.

I've spent a few hours reading over here since last month. boy there is a lot to this stuff. thank you all for doing this.

Lofta should send you a copy of your prescription. It's your legal right.

Lofta will make you an offer on a machine. You can buy from other sellers including brick & mortar DMEs and online DMEs.

These are the only two machines I recommend -

ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet - https://www.cpap.com/products/resmed-ai ... limateline

ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet - https://www.cpap.com/products/resmed-ai ... 11-autoset

Make sure you specify AutoSet.

Since you mouth-breathe, you should start with a full face mask (FFM - covers nose and mouth) - https://www.cpap.com/collections/full-face-cpap-masks? .

As you have more information from Lofta or more questions, please stick to this thread.

My doctor puts "good for 99 years" on the prescription. But, my local DME has internal rules that require a new one each year.

Sure.

More like an insulin prescription - you have to learn how to adjust the machine and the mask.
