Remed Airfit f20 leaking at front

Post by Steve40th396 » Sun Jan 19, 2025 8:45 pm

I have been using a Resmed for some time now. I keep the face mask, and all parts clean to extend the life of them.
But lately I have had a problem where the leak at the front, where the coupler attached to the facemask is leaking a lot. I know it has little vents there to allow air to bleed off, and when new its very quiet.
But, I am not sure whats happening as it is bleeding off a lot of air in the front. I have cleaned it, ensured it is clicking on and any other thing possible.
Any ideas why it may be leaking? More than it is designed too.
Thnx

Which model is the mask?

Duh, I needed an afternoon coffee.

Sorry, neither Gramps nor I have had that problem with our F20s.

I used F20 for years. I am so glad to be rid of it now by going to F40. I never could get leaks down with it or the F10. As for the front exhaust ports I experienced a higher awareness of their airflow at times that made me think they were leaking but an OSCAR report did not show a change. Sleeping on my side in various positions I sometimes would feel the normal exhaust air and think the tube coupling was loose. Nope, it was me feeling the deflection of the air from the pillow's position and hearing it a bit louder too.

Thnx,, Did you ask to go to a newer mask and Doctor Rx it? Or did you just buy it and try it.
Yes, I have heard the noise against the pillow. Annoying for sure.

I bought an Evora full face first on my own online no Rx needed. It was much better. Next, I told my DME supplier to switch me from F20 to F40. Again, no Rx needed. My Rx only is needed for getting a machine and keeping my insurance benefits going.

Thanks for the help. I will look for both masks and see what works.

This depends on your insurance. Kaiser dictated which mask in their prescription. Remember Kaiser is an HMO/Advantage plan and Kaiser is the DME, what we typically call a DME (Crapria in Kaiser's case) is merely the supplier).

But most insurers don't dictate which mask.
But most insurers DO dictate when you can get a new mask, so if it hasn't been enough time between your insurance may not pay for it. You can still buy the new mask from online suppliers with a prescription on file. Cpap.com has "mask insurance" so if it doesn't work for you, you can return it. You may also find a new mask on E-Bay as parts you put together yourself (they are not allowed to sell complete masks, but often you can buy a frame that "comes with" straps and cushion   Sometimes you can find the whole mask on Amazon if you look carefully (shhhh!).
