Please state the exact model machine you will be using.
Regardless, you will need a solar charger if you have no other way to charge the battery when not in use.

Or carry a huge battery or several smaller ones. I could do that comfortably with 3 scooter batteries. Uncomfortably with 2.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:44 amRegardless, you will need a solar charger if you have no other way to charge the battery when not in use.

Whatever you do, prioritize keeping it in a water-proof and dry bag.
There's 2 main options you can choose from:
>Either you bring enough batteries to last you your whole trip and change them when one is dying
>Or Bring a Portable Solar Panel Recharging station or something similar that will allow to charge your other electronics too

Folks here would be happy to help but you need to be a lil more specific. What equipment do you now have?EllisJames wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 8:06 pmHello all! Bowron Lake circuit? You say that like we all should know what you're talking about. We don't, at least I don't. Is that in the US?

I've had dismal results with this approach. Like solar everywhere, conditions have to be perfect for solar charging to work, and those conditions usually are at odds with what you look for in a campsite. It can't rain or be cloudy. You can't put it anywhere where the sunlight will be obstructed by trees, mountains, or tents. It requires many hours of direct sunlight, which is hard to come by if you're hiking between campsites.spitintheocean wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:08 am>Or Bring a Portable Solar Panel Recharging station or something similar that will allow to charge your other electronics too
In the real world, at best you can count on maybe adding enough charge to your battery to stretch its life an extra 2-3 nights on a trip that long, and it's easy to envision multiple scenarios that would prevent even that from happening.
