Pale,
Your link doesn't dispute what I claimed above. You seem to think a weak bond will cause the toxic stuff to degrade to harmless substances before it reaches your lungs. I see no reason to take that bet, since I can get all the O2 and moisture I need in other ways. Mike, of course, was promoting its use to prevent disease, so lack of degradation prior to reaching the pathogens is assumed.

Re: Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in your CPAP?
1) hydrogen peroxide is not "toxic", people use it as mouthwash. Sure, like anything, in a high enough concentration it can kill you. (see the chapter on hydrogen peroxide in John D Clark's Ignition!) but you're just being stupid.
Add heat to a reaction, such as, oh, I dunno, a heated humidifier and it will decompose faster.
There's no 'bet' involved, my assertion is that you're engaged in ignorant fear mongering, and nothing you've said changes my opinion.

Re: Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in your CPAP?
it seems that the conversation has drifted a bit. (surprise, surprise!)
thread title is Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in your CPAP? yet it seems that we are now talking about Pure Hydrogen Peroxide.
here is some talk about one vs the other-
https://www.purehydrogenperoxide.com/bl ... r%20toxins.
from the article-
Most commercially available peroxide products contain added dangerous chemicals (usually acetanilide or silver) to prolong the shelf life and maximize their profits. Unfortunately, these same chemicals are harmful to humans, pets, and the environment causing illness and diseases like cancer.
The term “food-grade hydrogen peroxide (H2o2),” is defined as being free from these dangerous chemicals and toxic materials, which means that there is nothing added to the hydrogen peroxide, so it does not contain any added chemicals, stabilizers and or toxins. Therefore, it is the cleanest and purest form of H2o2 that you can buy for your disinfecting needs.
hope this helps.
eta: or maybe not. i just noticed that stevenal's link is to food grade. but i'll leave it up anyway.

Sigh. I knew I shouldn't have never approved the new account person's post who resurrected a long dead zombie thread.
Just look at the crap it has caused.
Next time I think I will listen to my inner voice more. I thought about it at the time but I was hoping that the kids in the sandbox might actually play nice together for a change. Like Johnny I keep hoping that people will grow up but don't see any chance of that happening within my lifetime.
People don't change...they simply don't or if they do it is always for the worse.
People get to voice their OPINION based on whatever...and other people get to voice their OPINION based on whatever and if you guys don't agree....the POLITE response is "I respectfully disagree"...or similar wording...and you can provide further "proof" in your eyes and then BE DONE WITH IT. You aren't going to change anyone's mind here and all you get when you try is another pissing/whining contest that creates more stress and work for me...and we all know how I feel about unneeded stress and more work.
MOVE ON FOLKS....or I will send this thread back into the archives and bowels of the forum and it won't ever see the light of day again and your "thoughtful" responses won't be seen.
Can you tell I am pissed????

My father-in-law did this to clean his water chamber and it looked like a burn on the top plate after just a couple of months. Only use dish soap in your water chamber to clean it.
People *routinely* clean their tanks with vinegar or citric acid, in fact that's *recommended* by the manufacturer.

The FDA requires vinegar to be at least 4% acetic acid, but can range up to 8 percent in common 'vinegars' so, what's 'diluted'? 2%? 4%? 1%?

Today's Hydrogen Peroxide Trivia
H2O2 is produced naturally in cell mitochondria. Once it has served its purpose, the body has a way of neutralizing it to prevent damage.

Re: Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in your CPAP?
I apologize for reviving an old post, but I thought there might be several here interested in new research about this topic, and my looking into it is actually how I found this forum. I found this study on the use of H2O2 in nebulizer.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8289588/
Most studies are funded by the pharmaceutical companies. Personally, I don’t think the needed studies to answer these questions definitively will ever be done, because H2O2 cannot be patented, and is therefore not profitable. Several alternative medicine doctors have come out in support of it, though. It’s interesting. Anyway, just sharing. I think the science on this, like on many other things, is not yet settled.

Re: Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in your CPAP?
The subject of this thread is NOT nebulizers.
Yet, you did it anyway.

I think this old thread needs to fade away and not be revived again.
So.....I will be locking this thread.....
that way no one will resurrect it again.
