Not getting enough air

New CPAP, REMSTAR Plus C-Flex set at 9cm. I feel like I'm not getting enough air, just like being congested and trying to breath through your nose. No problem falling asleep once I relax, but I can do that anytime, anywhere. Can I increase the pressure myself?
I was diagnosed about 8 yrs ago, used the machine for a few months. I stopped using the machine because of discomfort with headgear and I didn't feel any more rested. It wasn't worth the hassle. I began using it again about 14 months ago at my husband request. Recently had new sleep study done and Dr prescribed 6cm(thought I would die). I had to check with my original DME to get the pressure prescribed the first time(9cm.) as my Dr didn't have any record of my sleep study (curious). DME reset pressure at 9cm. I did notice a difference this time. Still don't feel more rested but no more headaches upon waking. Using Swift FX Bella nasal pillows, LOVE it!!

PR System Plus CPAP... no data available...just wanted to let you know. That SD card gathers hours of use only. You have zero way to evaluate the data to see if therapy is optimal which might explain the not so feeling great. No way to know if leaks are a problem. No way to know if the 9 cm pressure is optimal and perhaps you just need more time or maybe simply more hours of sleep. Sort of flying blind without data.

Regarding not enough air...are you using ramp feature starting out low? If so try not using ramp.
If you aren't using ramp...what CFlex setting are you using if you are using it. Might try changing the CFlex setting and see if that help with how the breathing feels.

Pressure of 9 cm should be more than adequate to prevent any stifling sensations from not enough pressure. Now a setting of 4 or 5 or 6 cm..yeah can be a bit stifling for some people especially someone who was used to a higher pressure from previous use.

Cpap without data is like treating diabetes without pricking your finger.
If it works at all, it's just a coincidence.
At 8 years, your insurance (if you have any) should cover a new machine.
This time, please read the info about full data machines, maybe even automatic machines, before getting anything.
The right equipment makes all the difference.

Even if it is the older Remstar Plus...still no data.

i wake up in the middle of the night feeling that im not getting enough air, i shut of unit for 20-30 min then i can use it. Unit is a Resmed Airsense 10

Beware that my blog hasn't been updated and the info on machines is outdated. If you are getting a new machine, we are now recommending that the ONLY models you should accept are a ResMed 10 or 11 Autoset or Autoset for Her. Those are basic machines that have maximum flexibility for basic treatment and are fully data capable so your doctor and we can help you. Do not accept anything else. While they are auto-adjusting machines, they can be set with a fixed pressure if that works best for you.

The machine you have is what we refer to as a brick. It only works at a fixed pressure which may or may not be best for you, and there's NO useful data to help adjust and optimize your therapy.

Check dates of posts folks....I made that post back in 2012.

Yes, I saw that, but wanted to put that out there because any newbies looking for my blog might not get that the info is outdated.
