Well last night was my Fourth time using my Resmed machine , so this time I decided to alter only the minimum and maximum pressure settings , not really knowing the best option relating to those numbers I thought I would start with a low minimum number of 7:0 and the maximum number set to the highest available of 20:0 .

As suggested I made a concerted effort not to remove my mask . During the period I was using the Resmed machine and wearing the mask , I first slept on my side . But during that overall time period , just as a test , I did change my sleep position to on my back ( between time frame 23:20 to 00:40 ) . after that I returned to my side sleep position.

With the new minimum and maximum pressure settings now in place I noticed the there were far fewer apparent annoying leaks from the face mask .

Looking at the Oscar report I was surprised that after altering only the minimum and maximum pressure settings I managed to keep the mask on for a longer period than ever before .

One area that I’m still not sure about is while wearing the mask for the 5 hours and 20 Minuets period, I’m fairly certain I never actually went to sleep , and after I removed the face mask and turned off the Resmed machine ( because I was feeling very tired and in desperate need of sleep and though that removing the mask would then in some way let me finally go to sleep )

I’m not 100 % sure that after removing the mask that I did actually go to sleep , In other words I was fully awake during the 5 hours and 20 Minuets period while wearing the mask and still awake once I removed the mask , so it amounted to a total overall period where I did not manage to ever go to sleep .

As for the AHI number 3.00 , this is what I read …….. An AHI less than 5 is considered normal.

Any thoughts or suggestions please .

Until you actually SLEEP WITH THE MASK AND MACHINE ON none of this matters.

I'm really trying , but its an up hill struggle :( I'm going to stay with it and have my fingers crossed that some day I will finally get to sleep while the machine is on and I'm wearing the mask.

From what I can see and understand on an Oscar report theres no simple way to check if some one was actually asleep / for how long . I was wondering about buying a smart watch that has the ability to show the wearer when they went to sleep and for how long .

You are getting good advice. And you are making some progress. But resolving not to sleep without PAP, ever, is still step one.

Training your brain to accept the mask requires the same sort of patience and firm resolve as is required in training a pet or a child. The brain has to learn that it can't win. No mask, no sleep. Convince your brain it has no choice but to learn that PAP is ultimately the key to its getting the good sleep it craves.

Every time you give in to the urge to remove the mask, you teach your brain the wrong lesson. You can win this battle. It is your brain. It is an organ that works for you; you don't work for it.

Take control. Be firm. Never surrender.

You've got this. It's just work. And it gets just a wee bit easier every night that you win. Your brain will thank you for all that work later.

We're all cheering for you, sir!

The goal is too keep young, in harmony with the medical teachings of the famous Dr. Bob. (I think he has honorary doctorates from Princeton and from St. Andrews, anyway):

He was right very early on, ya know, that blowing wind is the answer.
