And yet... when I sleep well and wake up more rested I remember dreams. Or rather, I remember a dream.Rubicon wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 2:13 amDream recall is generally not a good thing, as it's often (usually?) a sign that REM is fragmented and you're going REM > Wake.ShallowBreather wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 4:11 pm... I’m more enjoying the dreams I get from the ASV. I didn’t get many with the ST.

Re: New ASV. Oscar pics.
Why do so many people shout "ASV" from the rooftops? You (Rubicon) seem to hold the opposing opinion. Is it because most things can be achieved with CPAP when done correctly? Does ASV make finding therapeutic pressures easier (due to the [somewhat] autonomous algorithm?)
It feels like ASV gets universal praise, which makes me think something is fishy...
No clue, though.
Re: New ASV. Oscar pics.
Nope, because it uses the same algorithm in response to obstructive apneas. (in ASVAuto mode).

Re: New ASV. Oscar pics.
Because the ASV achieves results that no other machine does. Having watched various forums for a decade now, I've seen many people with uncontrollable central apnea unable to get any decent results on CPAP/APAP/Bilevel, but ASV does the trick.Callen wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 5:57 pmWhy do so many people shout "ASV" from the rooftops? That's great, but show me where the OP hasI've seen many people with uncontrollable central apnea
Was it from the sleep studies which were all unmitigated disasters?uncontrollable central apnea
Was it the AHI of 1.95 where OP recounts
The AHI of 0.95 and multiple awakenings?ShallowBreather wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:40 amWent to bed about 10 pm. It's been a rough couple of days.
Using the Dreamwear pillow mask to start. But small steady leak started about 10:30. I believe that I made the switch to the Swift FX at 2:02 am.
Bathroom break at 11:36 pm.
I was awake I felt like, and just lying there, for most of the 1:00 am hour. Then, I made the mask switch. I remember being mad about not being able to sleep. But look at that Flow Rate as we approach 2 am! Nice.
So, now in the Swift FX. Never noticed a leak.
2:30 am, I think I'm asleep.
4:00 am, I couldn't get a breath and woke up dreaming about trying to breathe. I was cycling between deep breaths and shallow breating, and I bottomed out on a shallow and it was like I had super sinus congestion.
The 5:00 am hour was weird because I kept ramping up and down from shallow to deep to shallow again. The shallow was really shallow and it kept me from going to sleep. I think I fell back asleep around 5:45 am. Not sure.
*I'm also including a closeup of a time when I was in a very relaxed but not asleep period. You can see that I am shallow breathing a couple of times, then deeper breathing a couple of times, and then back to shallow, and then a hypopnea. How do I get this to not happen?
It's now 9:30 am, and I'm pretty tired today.

If you guys want to throw up some trend or other data to show UCA, fine. Meanwhile, seems to me that ASV used here is a comfort measure (a rather expensive comfort measure, but it ain't my money).
That said, need some data that shows it's actually working as a comfort measure. Right now
doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement.But, yeah I’m feeling a lot better…I think.
But what do I know?

Re: New ASV. Oscar pics.
Not sure what that means, but having been on the ASV a couple weeks, I’m surprised at how many times I’m sleeping through the night or almost through the night. The dreams have settled down, too. I am not dreading going to bed any more, knowing that I’m not going to sleep. I look forward to bedtime. Yay me.

That means IMO this thread is "played". I don't believe you've shown that you have anything that ASV was designed to treat; that the ASV waveform is being used as a comfort measure; and if you believe it's making a big difference in your life then it really doesn't matter what the cost is or what I think.

I think you're misunderstanding Rubicon - I've known him in all his names on this board - so maybe my interpretation is valid:ShallowBreather wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 9:27 pmIf you think that’s playing, you don’t know what you think you know. If you think this is a pacifier for sleep comfort, you’re barking up the wrong tree.
I believe he's telling you that:
"Played" in the sense of finished, not at all in the sense of "you're playing". There was a riddle, it's been solved, we can all move on.
And he's also saying something extremely important for all of us:
Comfort is an essential part of good sleep.
So essential, that it doesn't really matter what anyone else says, or even what it costs (if you can afford it).

Never "maybe", always right on target.
I don't want to upset the apple cart, or say anything to break the spell, but IMO you know what the absolutely most important thing is, that trumps machine choice, modes, waveforms, DWing, everything?
