Changing from CPAP to Autoset setting conversation?

Post by bobotech » Mon Mar 27, 2023 7:08 pm

I have an old bipap machine that used to be my late wife's, a Phillips Bi-Flex that I just set both settings to 9.5 since I never was prescribed a bipap machine or bipap settings. I bought a replacement Resmed S9 and I want to make use of the Autoset settings. What should I try as a good starting point?

of course, because you have to start somewhere. give it a go. if something about it doesn't set well with you, come back and let us know.

good luck!

I mean what would be a good baseline for settings for me? My current CPAP settings are 9.5. Should I try say 7.5 to 11.5? I just am not sure on a good baseline.

We are going to download Oscar to keep records of my sleeping.

It would be a decent starting point. Gotta start somewhere.
Then look at the results and evaluate. If you spend a lot of time at the max of 11.5 then you need to increase the maximum.

I'd go with 9-20

I would start at 8 and turn it up if 8 doesn't work well for you. If your prescription is 9 going much lower will probably only cause breathing disturbances which will cause the Auto mode to up the pressure. Why intentionally induce breathing events?

You do realize that an auto machine takes *two* pressure settings? When you give incomplete information to people that are new to this, you just create confusion for them.
