ResMed AirCurve 10 model comparison?

Post by Turner66 » Mon Mar 27, 2023 6:07 pm

Hi All,
Can anyone direct me to a simple comparison chart for the various AirCurve 10 models? Surely there is one but i'm just missing it in my searches?

Background: I've been using a ResMed AirSense 10 going on 5 years now and have been reading here on the forum for that long and using OSCAR and oximeter to tune it. But, I started (in the past year) having issues with being able to keep it on all night (began having to work too hard to exhale). I had a new titration/sleep study done 3 weeks ago to confirm, and I need to switch to a bi-pap to handle the required configuration.
My doc is prescribing another ResMed machine but was not specific with the model (yet). I want to educate myself on the AirCurve model differences (S, VAuto, ST, ST-A, ASV) so I can ensure the right model is prescribed before it gets ordered. I've read some about the various models but i still can't get a clear picture of the key differences. I have complete detailed results of the recent titration/sleep study and also results showing confirmation of a "normal" Pulmonary Function Test, along with my historical APAP configuration settings in case i need the data to validate choice of the right device going forward. Thanks in advance to anybody that can provide this info.
Cheers,
Turner

I can't blame the OP for wanting to second guess the doctor.
Lord knows, it is soooooo tempting.

Make no mistake, this wasn't/isn't about second guessing a doctor. The doctor is specifying requirements in the form of test results and brand preference to a solution provider, but is not dictating the model specifically. It is that 3rd party provider, their interpretation of those provided results, and their suggested solution that must be validated. I want to ensure I am prepared to do that validation in an educated manner. I can envision the possibility of their in-stock/available product influencing what they want to sell me rather than it being a truly objective decision...
Thanks

This may be a good place to start: https://www.resmed.com/en-us/healthcare ... t/devices/
That was exactly the first place I looked, thinking surely there would be a straightforward way of model selection provided by the manufacturer. It wasn't very clear to me, nor could I locate a typical online product comparison mechanism, which is what prompted my question here.
Thank you

If you follow the links on that page you get further details of each machine, including this side-by-side, which is about as good as I have seen from Resmed: https://document.resmed.com/en-us/docum ... er_eng.pdf

Good stuff, i hadn't found that before. Although there's some stuff there that requires me to do a bit more research for my situation, that helps clarify the matter between models quite a bit.
Thank you!

Thank you both zonker and palerider, those were close to what I was after, but were limited to the product specs type of data. I believe the ResMed chart pointed out by Respirator99 will get me the additional knowledge i needed to have. Great collaborative team effort by all responding here, well done :)

The *simple* answer is, "If you have significant central apnea, you need an ASV, if you have lung diseases like COPD or other non-OSA related issues, you may need an iVAPS, and if you just have plain OSA, you need a VAuto.

The ST machine is a torture device. and the S is like a plain CPAP that cannot adjust to your changing needs.
