high heart rate for 24mins.

Post by traillrunn3r » Mon Mar 20, 2023 7:56 pm

hi, i have an apple watch and it showed i had an elevated heart rate of 85-118bpm (normally i'm at 50-60 at night) starting at 7:21am - 7:45am - yes i was sleeping. 7:49am is when my bpm heart rate returned to normal.

looks like i had events during this time, a mix of OA and CA, but mostly CA. any suggestions on what i should be on the alert for or be worried about? i did not notice anything or felt anything during that time, literally i was asleep so seeing this kinda freaked me out.

when i looked at my oscar report it looked like this:

How long have you been on CPAP therapy?

IIWY I'd get on continuous remote cardiac monitoring for about a month. Your posts (including the one about CSR) sound like you have an intermittent arrhythmia and that's the best way to find it.

today also had a blip of a high heart rate (around 5:14) and this was captured on OSCAR.

no blockages/apneas but increase in flowrate and mask pressure and leak rate....everything else flat. odd no?

i can't figure out if the high heart rate spike is from the CPAP machine or my heart, a dream... and its showing up on OSCAR....but no apenas?

Judging from just the flow rate graph, that looks like a spontaneous arousal at about 5:14:15. In other words, it's an arousal that is not caused by sleep disordered breathing.

As for why there's a spike in the mask pressure graph and the leak graph at the same time? I don't know.

For the spike in the mask pressure? Maybe the deep inhalation in the arousal triggered the machine thinking it needed to increase airflow to maintain pressure. Maybe it's just a data/graphing glitch. (A virtually instantaneous mask pressure increase from roughly 9-10 cm to roughly 24cm seems very, very odd.) Maybe it's a combination. Maybe it's something else.

For the two very short lived, not very large leaks? Maybe you briefly opened your mouth during the arousal? Maybe the change in pressure caused a small mask leak?

Finally, how do you know the high heart beat was at the same time as this arousal? Is time setting on your AirSense 10 AutoSet properly synced with the time setting on the device you are using to measure heartbeat? And how high was the heartbeat? And how long did it last?
