The last 30 minutes of this night look like this:sreiter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 11:14 amI upload my data in sleephq heres the link

Seems to me that you most likely woke up around 9:24 and everything after that is what we call sleep-wake-junk (SWJ) breathing: You're not really asleep, but you're not really awake, and you're most likely bouncing between light (stage 1) sleep and wake. You probably did fall all the way to sleep between 9:31 and 9:33.
But it can take a few minutes for us to realize that we are awake. When you say that the phenomenon happened within the last few minutes, do you mean the last 5 minutes or the last 10 minutes?
Regardless, I think there may be something in your ragged SWJ breathing that is most likely triggering the phenomenon. As someone else mentioned, perhaps you are inhaling or exhaling deeply enough at times (say every third or fourth breath) to cause a slight decrease in the mask pressure and that pulls the mask in towards your face and makes it feel like the mask is collapsing.
Any chance you could attempt to intentionally trigger the problem while you are wide awake? If you are up for an experiment, put the mask on and first start breathing as normally as you can without trying to alter deep inhalations with more shallow ones. If the problem occurs while you are trying to keep your breathing nice and smooth, pay attention to the feel and the frequency of the problem. If you don't notice the problem after about 5-10 minutes of as regular of wake breathing, then start taking one really deep inhalation every 4th or 5 breath, and see if that triggers the problem.

Been away for a few days. Sorry for the late response. I'd say the phenomenon happened within the last 5 to 10. It woke me up, or maybe i was waking and I noticed it. then while i was pretty much fully away, i just laid there trying to gather data i my head about my breathing, etc. I was just laying there breathing normally, and it kept happening. The only thing i can think of is the majority of the time my reservoir is really low or dry most of the time, although i noticed one time it was 1/4 filled still.robysue1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:12 pmThe last 30 minutes of this night look like this:sreiter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 11:14 amI upload my data in sleephq heres the link

interesting observation. totally didnt know where everyone was going with "whats mask pressure" until you sort of stated the obvious.. there cant be a vacuum per se because theres still pressure. That only makes it more of a mystery. ugh.. maybe?? just a drop in pressure is enough that i feel it collapse?????
I havent been able to film it because it usually happens once or twice as i'm waking up. man, its truly maddening. I cant be the only person who's experienced this.
thanks for keeping an eye on thread thread and offering insights

We need to see the Mask Pressure graph along with the Flow Rate graph and the Leak graph. And could you confirm your settings? Earlier in the thread you posted an image says you are using straight CPAP mode at 10 cm pressure with EPR turned OFF.
The oscillations that start just before 11:57:20 in that snippet sure look like FOT oscillations kicking in, most likely because the machine detected little or no airflow into/out of your lungs starting around 11:57:15.
But the cause of both the upward and downward spikes in Mask Pressure that start just before 11:57:00 and continue until just after 11:57:05 is not at all clear.
My guess is that you may in fact be occasionally inhaling or exhaling deeply and sharply enough to trigger some fluctuation in the Mask Pressure that is just (barely) big enough for you to perceive as the mask collapsing onto your face. But without seeing the Flow Rate graph, together with the Mask Pressure graph and the Leak graph, all I'm doing is throwing out a wild guess.sreiter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 1:07 aminteresting observation. totally didnt know where everyone was going with "whats mask pressure" until you sort of stated the obvious.. there cant be a vacuum per se because theres still pressure. Have you been able to create the problem while using them machine during the daytime when you are clearly awake and intentionally trying to recreate the problem?
Finally, keep in mind that waking up is a process and that when we're only half awake, our perception of what is happening is often not accurate.

I understand what you're saying about being in a fog when one 1st awakens, I dont think thats the case here, since i've experienced the exact same thing for 10-15 or more years. I also recently kept experiencing it after i'd been awake for some time a week or so ago, I'm estimating 5 more more mins, as I previously mentioned. But thank you for continuing to go through mental exercise and coming up with different theories. Every suggestion at a possible root cause is ingested by me and gives me food for thought and roads to explorerobysue1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:18 am

I have tried the experiment yet. Planning on doing it today. Will post results.
Yes, you're correct about the settings on my machine.
I tried to post diff views / zoom ratio's of the leak graphic. it was so minimal it was hard to capture
Dont pay any attention to the large spike. I only learned ahow to get into the clinical menu and saw the auto on and off setting. previously as was the case here, if i get up to pee in the middle of the night, i'd just rip my mask off and leave the machine running. once in a while, just from being a active sleeper, the magnets might come undone as well.

So, the mask pressure is actual *measured* pressure... if you have a big enough leak that the machine can't maintain the desired pressure, then you'll see a drop in the mask pressure.sreiter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 1:07 aminteresting observation. totally didnt know where everyone was going with "whats mask pressure" until you sort of stated the obvious.. there cant be a vacuum per se because theres still pressure. Just looking at that by itself isn't as informative as I'd wish, i want to see the mask pressure *and* the flow rate, at a time when you feel like there's been a problem, zoomed in similarly to the screenshot above.

Yeah, the Y scale i zoomed in so far, that I believe that huge looking oscillation is FOT, because, just eyeballing the waveform, it looks like a 1cm peak to valley, and it looks to be about 4hz.robysue1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:18 amWe need to see the Mask Pressure graph along with the Flow Rate graph and the Leak graph. Please don't do that anymore.
We want *one* screenshot, with Flags, Flow rate, Mask Pressure, Leak, Flow Limitations and Snores.
Zoomed in appropriately.
it'll be a lot easier for YOU to screenshot and post, and easier for US to look at and correlate.

Sorry - trying to be as helpful with data as I can. leak rate was so small, I was trying to give as good a view as i can.
Its a little difficult to know exactly what you're looking for. You and other have so much more knowledge/experience with this stuff, that i feel you might be taking for granted my total ignorance of what you're looking for/what is or isnt useful. I'm doing my best to try to interpret what you're asking for. Please bear with me if I get it wrong. With your, and others guidance, I'm sure I'll get it right eventually.

I checked 5+ days and that same oscillation pattern appears multiple times on every day. Out of my sample, it appears more time than not at the very end of the graph, which may indicate why it wakes me up (at least sometimes) or at least why I feel it (because I'm in light sleep or waking)
Is there a way to shut that off so i can tell for sure thats the issue?
Also, in oscar, why does part of the graph appear grey some times, as opposed to white?
