Eye mask to use with full face CPAP mask

Post by Random CPAP Guy#2 » Mon Feb 20, 2023 10:13 am

Prior to using a CPAP, I used a large size eye mask to shut out light while I slept. I use a full face CPAP mask, and there’s just not enough room around the top of the mask to wear my standard eye mask. I wanted to check if anybody here has suggestions, short of room darkening shades. I’m picturing something not much bigger than swim goggles but that would be lightweight and stay in place while I slept. Especially as the days get longer and morning comes earlier, I want to shut out the light while I sleep. In advance, thanks!

Lay a black pillowcase over your face. You are getting your air from the CPAP machine on the nightstand, so there will be no buildup of CO2 under the pillowcase.

I use this one:

With a Brevida mask. It works pretty well. Sometimes you get a little light down at the bottom of the mask where its sitting on the cushion but overall I dont really notice much light coming through.

Do you know if this is comfortable for side sleepers?

Thanks all for the replies. I’ll try these out and let you know. On the sheet idea, the CO2 has to go somewhere, so I think I’ll avoid that.

40 Blinks, from B3.
I had to sew a dart in the middle, because my tiny frog nose leaves a big gap.
Put eye mask on under the cpap mask.
Even better--ditch the full face mask, and go with nasal pillows.

If your understanding of the physics of gases is like that, you should use the sheet to trap CO2 so it doesn't get out and enter your CPAP on the nightstand.

Nice, sarcasm. Have a good Sunday.

Where will the gases go but be trapped under the sheet? I totally get that the O2 I need will come from the CPAP. It's the (lack of) dispersion of the CO2 that I am concerned about. Dissing my understanding of physics doesn't do much to allay my concerns. If it makes you feel good, rock on.
