About to give up on CPAP
Re: About to give up on CPAP
Thank you so much to every one of you!
After reading and reading I'm starting to think CPAP causes me hyperventilation, there is cases like that (no, it is not anxiety) .
It could be very possible some machine settings that I still have to figure out.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
Cpap can not force you to hyperventilate.
That's not how it works.
The hyperventilation is coming from YOU.
For your own sake, do not dismiss any advice to consult a psychologist.
Uncontrolled reflexes do not mean you are crazy--just that you need help.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
I assume if it was anxiety it would happen without CPAP as well, it happens only with CPAP, so it most likely induced by the machine.
Re: About to give up on CPAP
The anxiety itself could be caused (induced) by your use of the machine. In other words, you had a bad experience while wearing the mask and using the machine. And now your brain is anxious about wearing the mask and using the machine, and so when you put the mask on and start the machine, there's some part of your brain that starts to worry (i.e. becomes anxious) that you will once again start feeling like you're going to suffocate and/or hyperventilate. And so the anxiety takes over and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, and sure enough at some point you convince yourself that you might be starting to feel suffocated and that starts the hyperventilation reaction.
In other words, chunkyfrog's advice about consulting a psychologist is something you should take seriously: Working with someone who can help reduce your anxiety may very well get you over this hump and then you may actually be able to learn how to use the CPAP machine without its triggering the anxiety which in turn triggers the hyperventilation.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
Apart from the anxiety issues, the settings you shared previously may well be causing a feeling of being starved for air. In any case, it's very unlikely that your apnea is being properly treated, so you may also be reacting to apnea events.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
Thank you a lot to everyone!
I changed today the mask and took some old mask that for some reason I rejected before (it is not old in terms of use, I almost have not used it, just I got it when got the machine 1.5 years ago).
Before I had Airfit P10 for her (the one I was suffocating) , and today I used Resmed Swift F Nano, and it is much much better in terms of suffocating, I used it for 3 hours straight and removed only because have to wake up @2am since my little one got sick with cold and need to be with her.
I will get a SD, just need some time to go to the parts provider they working hours are pretty short and I work at the same time, so may take some time.
For mow here the readings I see on the machine from the today night:
Usage hours (today): 3:05h
Event per hour: 0
Mask Seal: smily face
Humidifier: smily face
Days used 12 (last month)
Avg usage: 2h
Pressure 5.1
Leak 0
AHI 0.3
Total AI 0.1
Central AI 0.1

Re: About to give up on CPAP
You don't have to buy the SD card from the place you got the machine.
SD cards are widely available at any place that sells digital cameras, including big box stores like Target and Walmart. Heck, you can sometimes find them at ordinary drug stores.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
I lifted the corner of a Resmed label on an sd card, and found another label.
It was a common brand, like those sold at walmart or best buy.
I believe it was only a 1G or 2G card.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
Thank you a lot! I will try to get a card on the weekend
There is a hope that it was mask issue, I changed the mask to Swift FX Nano and no more heart jumps.
Attaching my heat rate and saturation (I removed the mask after about 3.5 hours and that visible)

Re: About to give up on CPAP
Just to show how it was looking when I was waking up with heart racing and suffocating.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
That all looks pretty normal. Your heart rate when you woke was about 70 beats/min and your O2 was about 95. This is not a racing heart and you weren't suffocating! Let's see you data when you get the card and we'll see if anything shows up.

Re: About to give up on CPAP
Today night was not as good as before, made just 1 hour through even with new mask. Probably I did the straps too tight, woke up with feeling that not enough air and the air it too hot and humid, even nothing changed on the machine settings Just venting

Venting won't help. Posting your data will.
