@RobbySue1: If what you say is true, then how does this benefit the them that we no longer have access to our data.
That doesn't make sense.

You make the reasonable assumption that doctors and DMEs should want knowledgeable patients who are interested in monitoring their data.

But sadly many doctors and DMEs prefer patients who accept every word they say as the gospel truth. And many have a strong preference for patients who are compliant but who don't know enough about OSA or CPAP to actually ask any questions. Hence there's never been much of an interest on increasing patient access to software for analyzing CPAP data. That's why JediMark wrote SleepyHead in the first place---neither Resmed nor PR would grant mere patients access to the software DMEs & doctors used to see the data recorded by their machines. Yes, there were (and still are) ways for mere patients to get their hands on ResScan and Encore Pro, but the fully functional cloud-based software that Resmed and PR sell to DMEs & doctors is not sold to patients. Apps like MyAir, which really doesn't give you any more useful information than the macine's LCD, are being touted as ways to satisfy the curious patient and also as ways to increase the effectiveness of DME/doctor nagging of patients who are not compliant with therapy.

As for what DMEs/docs think they get out of keeping patients in the dark about the patients' own therapy: Control. DMEs think if they keep patients in the dark, they'll have passive patients who continue to buy replacement equipment at whatever intervals the insurance companies pay for regardless of whether the masks, hoses, humidifier tanks, filters, etc actually need to be replaced. As for the docs, many docs dislike dealing with cranky patients who actually know something; it's much easier on the docs' egos to dismiss real patient concerns that require real investigation and creativity and patience on the doc's part as patients relying far too much on Dr. Google and not enough on them.
