Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
Re: Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
Good to hear you are feeling better.
I always scratch my head with auto ramp or any ramp over 5-15 minutes. Seems like too much if you get up in the middle of the night and then fall right back to sleep.

Re: Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
I think it works for me. I fall asleep pretty quickly and the excessive pressure when first putting the mask on is too much. If there were an option to turn it off later in the night when I’m used to the pressure that would be nice.
Re: Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
Auto-ramp apparently detects when your ordered breathing hints you've fallen asleep and starts raising the pressure accordingly so it shouldn't be so much of a problem.jlsmithseven wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:45 pmI think it works for me. And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

These settings, Day 3, have been outstanding. I think changing the pressure change to Soft has been really helping with my wakeups...I only woke up once. Also my breathing is much better and deeper. I wore the Knightsbridge Cap all night with my Dreamports here.

Re: Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
You need to decide if this topic is to optimize your therapy or to help with your aerophagia. Because making adjustments for one may not help with the other or even be counterproductive.

Re: Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
Well I want to optimize my therapy, in terms of the vast pressure changes that were happening. My capping at 8.6 here doesn’t seem like enough since for the past year the max was around 9.8. I do believe that the 9.8 was due to the fact of the machine ramping up to that to see what would be good enough. I think somewhere In the low 9 could work for cpap mode, but honestly , how well this small range of APAP mode has been working there is no reason to change. Basically now I would like to continue to tighten up this range , but still make sure the max 8.6 is enough for me without introducing aerophagia again. Could I continue raising the min and max together at .2 until it’s not comfortable again?

Re: Setting CPAP mode instead of APAP Question
You could continue with the strategy of getting your pressure as high as possible without aerophagia. But with an AHI under 1, no aerophagia, and sound sleep, you could also just stick with what you've got. You might at least give these settings some more time to see whether you continue to get these great results more often than not. ("More often than not" because some nights will always be better than others, of course.)

That’s what I was thinking. Why bother changing anything really since this seems to be doing very well.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:01 amYou could continue with the strategy of getting your pressure as high as possible without aerophagia.
