French newbie struggling with an Oscar reporting in French

Post by Albatros » Sat Dec 03, 2022 9:22 am

I am a NEWBIE with 6 weeks in CPAP therapy.
I read you assiduously.
I am French and I have a Resmed Airsense 11, with a persenal profile and parameters in French.
Big problem: my (first) ODCAR reporting is in French. The acronyms are in french, which is very annoying.
Is it possible to solve this problem ?

Thank you for your help.

a simple google search (oscar apnea change language) would have given you the requested answer. In the Aide menu, simply select "Changer de langue", then select Français.
Bonne chance. :)

You were right ! It was in the Aide menu.

A great thank you. You saved my day ...

I realize you didn't ask about this, but I can't resist wondering why your pressure is capped at 11 and why you aren't using EPR. If you don't want to wander down the settings path, no worries!

I'm a little confused, the way I read your question, it implied to me that your profile was *already* in French, and the acronyms were the confusing area.

Did you get your questions answered?

I'm guessing there are incompetent doctors/sleep techs even in France. :D

When I look at my 1st Oscar report:
-I notice on my graph Flow limitation, that (outside of apnea zones) my % is low, 0.25 or less, permanently. Does this mean that I have a structural problem of blocked breathing?

-Concerning the pressure level of 11. I put it up (vs. my doctor's 10) a bit randomly. It turns out that the pressure is stuck near 11. Should I change? Increase it,

-I note that I do not have a LEAKS graph. Is thereba reason for that ?

THANK YOU

I stopped EPR assuming that it was useless for me, as I do not have a problem with the air coming from the machine.
A mistake ?

No. For many, EPR is purely a comfort issue. Some claim, that EPR can help reduce Flow Limitations. Personally, I think that its value in reducing Flow Limitations is over stated.

If you're more comfortable with English (or the English acronyms), you have the option to reinstall OSCAR in English. There are actually separate options for US English and UK English, but these differences are no big deal, at least not for native English speakers.

Albatros, click on the button in the lower right corner of the daily chart to make sure the leak graph is checked. Looking at the numbers in the right-hand panel, you probably don't have a leak problem, but you might as well have the data visualized for you.

I would recommend setting EPR to 3. As Dog Slobber suggests, that may make using your machine more comfortable for you, and it will probably reduce your flow limitations and thus the pressure swings that you're seeing. Also as DS suggests, reducing FLs might not make much difference to the quality of your sleep -- but then again it might.

If you decide to add EPR, please raise your minimum by a corresponding amount. This will keep your exhalation pressure steady.

And as an experiment, try raising your maximum to 20, just to see what happens. The machine won't go there unless it "sees" a need to. If that sounds too radical, try raising it to, say, 15.

Your events show some clustering, which can sometimes mean a positional problem: either sleeping on your back, or sleeping with your head tucked down toward your chest. If you use a high pillow, or several pillows, try using a single, fairly low and firm pillow to see how that works.
