Newbie can't post pictures - error

Post by RFGuy » Thu Dec 01, 2022 12:10 pm

I am new to this forum and have searched about how to post pictures here, but can't seem to get it to work. When I attempt to upload an attachment to a new post, I get an error that says "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." I have tried multiple image sizes, even going very small, but the forum won't let me attach images for some reason. Can someone point me to an FAQ or post the details for how to post pictures here? For reference, I found this thread (viewtopic.php?t=158560#p1220784) and followed the instructions but I can't seem to upload an attachment for some reason.

Second question is that I have a CPAP and a BiPAP with relatively low hours that I no longer need and would like to sell it. IF that is permitted here, I will post pictures and info on them for anyone that is interested. They are in good condition and have been well cared for so I would hate for them to continue to collect dust if someone needs a primary or even a backup unit.

Pugsy,

Thanks. I appreciate it. So the storage is full for the forum then. I checked the Manage Attachments already and I don't have any there because they wouldn't upload. I don't want to upload any images then and cause more problems for the forum. IF it is allowed to offer my used CPAP and BiPAP for sale on this forum, should I just put a text description and ask anyone interested to message me and I will find out a way to get them images to review? I dislike 3rd party websites that host images so I would prefer not to use one of those. Or, is posting about a used CPAP for sale discouraged on this forum?

The forum is full, not your particular slice of the forum.

Non-commercial selling of CPAP devices and supplies is fine. Posting pictures is important for success, especially if you are new with a positive reputation. It's also helpful to provide details, machine model, age, run hours.

Dog Slobber,

Thanks. So, it is encouraged for me to post pictures here, when more space is available? Reading through the link from Pugsy, it sounds like this has been a repeated problem, at least this year on this forum. I didn't want to add to server storage issues here by posting my personal devices for sale, but I agree that would be the best way for me to get interest in them, i.e. by having pictures I can upload.

I didn't say or imply anything of the sort. I said posting pictures is important for success. I also didn't suggest anything about posting pictures when more space is available.

Until (if) the storage space is resolved, the only reliable method of posting pictures is external.

Is this how you typically respond to people who try to answer your questions?

Good luck selling your machines.

Dog Slobber,

Sorry, I didn't intend any offense. I must have misunderstood your reply. I was only trying to figure out what the etiquette is on this forum with regard to pictures and selling personal equipment. My apologies.

Just post your item for sale...Indicate a complete description including make and model as well as run hours, price and any accessories included.
Pictures are helpful, but not necessary.

The easiest way is to use an external site like Imgur.com or other similar image hosting site. Once you post your image you can use the tiny image icon button to insert the image into your post.

The steps are fairly simple:
1. Go to Imgur.com
2. Click on “new post”
3. Either drag your images into the “drop images here” area or click on “chose photo/video” and follow the prompts to either select it from your photo library or other source
4. Click on the picture once uploaded, then click on the “copy link” button when it appears
5. Come back to the forum and add it to a post using the little image icon and paste the link from step 4 between the img and /img - note you may have to add a “.jpg” extension to the pasted link for it to work

Voila. Le fin.

someone (robysue?) mentioned something that's a bit faster. steps 1-3. then choose "BBCode" then back here, find a place to put in in your text box. then paste it in.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I have no attachments, so don't look at me.
I suspect all that space is occupied by people who left the forum long ago.
Apparently, nobody has permission to clear the cache, or set a deletion timer.
IMO, no image over a month old should live rent-free on the forum.
