Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
Has anyone noticed the Airsense 11 using more water than the Airsense 10?
I don't know if the local humidity suddenly dropped or what. I only had to refill the tub on the Airsense 10 every 3 days. I've had the Airsense 11 for 6 days and it's used nearly all 12 ounces every night. I've tried setting it for auto, I've tried putting in the same settings as I had on the 10, and I've tired lowering the climateline temperature and humidity. It still nearly runs out. I had the humidity set at 4 last night. I'll try 3 tonight.

What is the ambient humidity in your house?
How do your leak numbers look?

I don't have a hygrometer so I don't know the inside humidity. I think it's low because the thermostat is set for 71, I'm still chilled and my hands feel dry. The outside humidity is 55% according to Yahoo WX.
Leak numbers since I've had the machine are 6,23,34,28,23,and 24L/min.

My first one that came with the machine leaked like crazy, I just got a new one and it's so much better.

What leaked, the mask or the tub?jlsmithseven wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 3:10 pmMy first one that came with the machine leaked like crazy, I just got a new one and it's so much better.

The tub. I think from the water heated under the base, the seal of that got through the base and it would just leak.
Re: Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
I guess there can be a manufacturing defect once in awhile. I've never had a tub leak, but I've had water come through the air hose if I go to far past the MAX line.jlsmithseven wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 5:18 pmThe tub. Is this an Airsense 10, or Airsense 11?jlsmithseven wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 5:18 pmThe tub. I think from the water heated under the base, the seal of that got through the base and it would just leak.
Leaks in the 10's are not uncommon.

Re: Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
Do you still have the AirSense 10 machine to use to see if the water consumption drastically changes?
3 things affect water consumption
1..ambient humidity....this is a biggy....the drier the ambient humidity the more water will be consumed if someone doesn't change the number 2
2..humidity setting
3..leaks when excessive and prolonged.....and also pressure needs..the higher the pressure the more water will be consumed.
While it wouldn't be impossible for there to be some sort of mechanical issue I would first suspect ambient humidity changes.
Ambient air became drier which then means the machine has to use more water to keep the humidity at the selected setting.

Re: Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
Last night's settings were 70 degrees with a humidity setting of 2. This morning I had a little over a half tank of water left. No discomfort, so I think I'll leave it there. I also think the weather has become a little more humid. Next time I'm out and about, I'll see if I can find a digital hygrometer so I'll know for sure. I'll order one if I can't find one.Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:11 pmDo you still have the AirSense 10 machine to use to see if the water consumption drastically changes?

The AS10 is packed up and stored away. Besides, a perfect A/B comparison would require me using both at the same time

I would think a leak would be obvious..there would be a puddle.jsmit86 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 7:58 pmIs this an Airsense 10, or Airsense 11?jlsmithseven wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 5:18 pmThe tub. Re: Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
When the tub had just started to develop the leak, only the bottom was a bit wet... I wasn't sure if it was leaking, or perhaps condensation. Later, there was no doubt it was leaking. One time it dumped water all over my nightstand. I ended up replacing the machine with an Airsense 11 autoset. Not even a hint of a leak on that unit so far.
A few internet searches will show multiple articles and videos specifically showing exactly why the seal on the bottom edge of the Airsense 10 tub sometimes develops leaks. My machine seemed to get progressively worse with age. My son''s DME said that he believes some machines had the plates develop an uneven heating issue over time, that accelerated the problem. That seemed likely with my Airsense 10 unit. Every tub I purchased in the last 18 months or so, developed a leak with a few weeks. I know that doesn't happen to everybody, but with my machine continually doing that, I opted for replacement. If that had not been an issue, I would still be using the Airsense 10. Both machines are excellent in by view. I just had this weird problem.
So far, the Airsense 11 does not seem to be prone to the leaking tub issue, probably due to the design change which is a bit of a mixed bag for other reasons.

My tank needs to be refilled every 2 days when I use a Climateline hose. I've switched to the standard hose and the water in the tank lasts much longer.

Re: Airsense 11 tank almost empty every night
Central heat reduces indoor humidity.
Hygrometers are inexpensive, and useful for predicting water usage.

My AirSense 10 will use up a tank in high humidity house within 5 hours so I still wake with an incredibly dry mouth.
