DC-to-DC converter not working with Rover Companion 40ah battery

Post by AThomson » Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:48 pm

Hi All,

I was getting all excited about camping this year and going places without mains power. I bought a Companion Rover 40ah Lithium battery and the Resmed DC-to-DC converter to power my Airsense10 Elite, but I get no power.

I've tried the converter through the car cigarette outlet and it turns on fine and blows away. Even with the humidifier set to off and the Climate Line off I still get nothing via the Rover battery. I did notice that the cigarette plug on the Resmed Dc converter is really wobbly in the Rover outlet but I am pretty sure there is proper connection is happening.

Nothing wrong with the Rover - powers my Telescope perfectly fine. Based on these tables, https://document.resmed.com/documents/a ... lo_eng.pdf, I should be getting juice with the humidifier off.

Anyone else running off a 40ah battery or might have any suggestions?

Andrew

it sounds to me your plug on you Resmed is not making a good contact with your rover socket. those 12 volt sockets are not the same. I think your problem is. you have to rotate your Resmed plug till it locks in with the rover socket. this will help make a good contact.

Thanks Ray

I tried again making sure to line up with the lock points which are clearly indicated on the Rover outlet. Unfortunately it doesn't work. You are right the plug is really flimsy in the socket which isn't the case in the outlets on my ute. Thinking I need to upgrade to a Bluetti 1000w https://www.bluettipower.com.au/product ... er-station to make sure I have more than enough power for it and other appliances like my scope, charging phones etc.

you can fix your problem a lot cheaper by cutting off your resmed plug. Buy a good quality marine grade plug to match your rover socket. its very easy job.

I don't like those commercial power boxes. poor quality.

you can do a lot better. buy your own battery. build your own power box with the stuff you need. I built my box with marine grade blue sea sockets with marine grade wire. I power my box with a 100 amp lithium battle born battery. if you need more power. you have plenty of options. battle born is the best you can buy. there not cheap.

if you don't want to cut off your resmed plug. Buy a good quality cigarette plug for your rover. wire it with a short lead with a socket on the end of it. stick in your resmed plug to it. this will get power to your c-pap machine. its not pretty but it will work.

if you can take the plug out of your rover. replace it with a socket the size you need.
