Thick vs Regular Air Filters for Resmed 11

Post by jlsmithseven » Thu Nov 24, 2022 12:00 pm

Hi!
So the air filters that came along with my machine were easily 1/2 to 1/3 smaller than these replacements I picked up online. (I think from Amazon). Does this limit the air flow coming into the machine at all? I felt like the other ones worked better but maybe it's all in my head. I feel like it works the same way as a house filter though. The thicker they are, the more they catch, but the less air flow. I just want to make sure. Thank you.

Also, does anyone know what this means?

I can’t help with the filter question, but the board quota is limited by available disk space on the servers. You can use an external image hosting site like Imgur.com to host your images, then post the link to them using the picture icon from the tiny icon toolbar.

Something like the following:
(note: I had to add the “.jpg” extension - the “image” icon will add the img and /img pre- and post-keywords needed)

Which yields:

can't answer the filter question. but as to the attachments i'm sorry to say that's the new normal. it's full and pugsy (moderator) hasn't the powers or abilities to clear it out. she's left numerous notes to the owners, who apparently don't gve a rip as they haven't replied.

so, yes one has to post charts to an image hosting site and link here.

no apologies needed. :)

Thanks, I just have no attachments in my profile so I was just wondering because I just saw someone use the attachments in his posting. Also I have tons of respect for this board, but my post here just confirmed something that I had a suspicion about. I kind of knew the answer to the attachments thing, although I hoped something had changed, but I just put that in there to get a response. I've had fairly simple questions about 3 of them recently with no answers to them or comments. I got 3 answers to the attachments question right away. What am I doing wrong?

The forum storage thing is forum wide and has nothing to do with the fact you don't have any attachments.

The post where you saw someone use the attachment feature.
1...it might be an old attachment originally post when the storage wasn't full
2...the person might have realized the storage was full and they had old attachments in the storage so they went and deleted something out of the storage and then they just used the available space they just created.

I can't post a new attachment but I can show you one of my old images that is in storage. I don't have but 3 or 4 because I use imgur for most of my stuff....but here's one I kept just to brag about. Look at how flat that leak line is.....I don't tape or do anything special to keep the mouth shut and I know that sometimes the mouth comes open so a leak line like this is something to pat myself on the back.

BTW....that's with the Bleep mask.

meanwhile, we've gotten side tracked by the attachment thingy and neglected the filter question.

so i'll take a shot at it and my betters will correct me. seems to me that it shouldn't have any impact on your air flow.

Many years ago I bought filters online that were thicker than the originals. The machine I had then whined and struggled with them. I retuned the unopen packs.

Yes, I don't believe I've heard it whining. I have the most modern machine, so I assume it has a bit more power. Either way I bought some thinner ones and just feel better using them for some reason. My air isn't that dirty that I need to use an extra thick one.

I have both the AS10 and the AS11, and my wife uses the AirCurve 10. The filters that you mentioned are the standard dust filters (the one that you show in your hand) and the thicker one is the HYPOALLERGENIC filter. I do not believe that the Hypoallergenic filter will decrease the air flow.

The hypoallergenic filter does not look like sponge like, nor is it "thicker".
Unlike the cream colored yellowish filter, it's pure white. The material is denser, not thicker.

ozij, you are correct. I used the wrong terminology by saying that it was thicker, it is just denser, in order to filter out smaller particles
