Respironics Moog blower replacment part

Post by bernardc » Sat Oct 08, 2022 11:28 pm

I have a 2017 Philips Respironics Auto BiPAP with a bad Moog blower. (The bottom ball bearing rusts when it gets wet from water intrusion from the humidity reservoir during upset.) I replaced it once before and it again needs a new one, but now the replacement blower is dicontinued and no one has stock. Does anyone have one? I'd even take a quiet used one.

I still haven't found a Moog blower for my Respironics. Any ideas? It's Philips part no. 1121549. I'll take a whole Respironics unit.

Wait, Moog made respironics fans? how far they've fallen.

I thought they just made music synthesizers.

That said, have you looked at https://www.cpapusa.com/dreamstation-sk ... r-kit.html?

Probably better to put your money towards buying a Resmed machine instead. Better for your health.

Huge fan of the Moog synthesizer.
Third only to the theremin (now made by Moog), and Ben Franklin's glass armonica.

Different Moog, they are a customer of my company, currently working on a major aerospace project in collaboration with SNC. The music instrument company Moog is the one you must be thinking of. There is also a Federal Mogul subsidiary Moog; I have installed some of their parts in my car (ball joints, tie-rod ends, etc.)

In the Jeep world, Moog has a horrible reputation, particularly ball joints. With so many countries manufacturing Moog parts, ball joints are like a box of chocolates...

I've had pretty good luck with my Moog ball joints, and I race them hard, including off-road; but I'm not living in Jeep world (I guess, Moog parts fare better in imports  ).

Well IMO their ball joints for the XJ have design flaws. The top joint exposes metal (OK maybe looking funny isn't a capital crime, but seems to me it's gonna be a major PIA to get that top one out when it's time); the boot on the top is flimsy; and the lower is just stupid. It should have been sealed (Spicer is) but that grease fitting instead of a Zerk is a needle, is essentially inaccessible and the needle barely works anyway. Word on the street is that they don't last (XJ ball joints have to be perfect otherwise you get Death Wobble). All that said, all my tie rod ends are Moog. I have one Spicer and one Moog BJ cause Spicer is on a big shipping delay and I could only get one Spicer. I mean, I'd like to use Moog cause they're readily available and a good price, but again, IMO they don't seem to have control over all the international manufacturers.

And needless to say, unless it happens in a parking lot (and for me, that's exactly where it happened!)(don't remember if it was a Moog) snapping a tie rod end, although exciting, is not ultimately a pleasant experience.

The ball joints on my cars are of the sealed type (no greasing) and are OEM type but beefier. I can't find a photo of the Moog replacements and I've sold both cars that had them (my current race car build is not to that point yet), but here's a picture of the OEM ones after a good, tough service life:

I do have a photo of some Moog end-links I had one one of my cars, to show an idea of what they look like:

They are serviceable and they do have a Zerk fitting, and there are two ways to mount the links, one of which totally blocks access to it, so one has to be careful installing them. They are much, much stronger than the OEM ones.

All of those have held up admirably. I can't complain, especially given how reasonably priced they are.

Fully expect trolls, dataq1 and Tec5 to show up and start demanding that commenters identify their profession and provide qualifications to be commenting on the mechanical components. They'll then comment, any information provided in this thread is not intended nor recommended as a substitute for professional mechanical advice.

Hey, some folks call themselves experts on electricity, because they have
completed a circuit with some part of their body.
