Any Airtouch F20 Tips?

Post by joeljjk11 » Wed Sep 28, 2022 6:48 am

I am trying desperately to get the Airtouch F20 to work for me but I am having issues. I prefer full face masks but in the middle of the night this mask will wake me up and leak into my eyes or around my mouth. I fit the mask perfectly and test it before going to bed but it still seems like slight movements in the middle of the night of my mask into my pillow dislodge it and it wakes me up. My pressure is on 10-18 Autoset currently. I do not want to abandon the mask and want to get it to work, any tips or suggestions on this? Also, I use the standard headgear and the large size cushion. Thanks.

A hose management system
A CPAP pillow
A mask liner

There may be no solution to that.

Have you looked at some of the lower-profile FFM designs? The ResMed AirFit F30i is popular with high ratings and good reviews. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -face-mask

I've tried the F30i and hate it, the venting is incredibly loud and blows air everywhere. I have to tighten the straps very tight to get any sort of a seal whatsoever. I just don't think the mask fits my face well.

joeljjk11,

It might help us help you if we knew more about the actual leaks, as in what pressure do they occur at and how long do they last before you wake up.
Can you post some daily data from OSCAR or SLeepHQ that shows both the flow rate and leak line?

When you fit the mask at the begging of the night are you sitting up or lying down? If you're not lying down, try to fit the mask in your usual sleeping position.

When you fit the mask at the beginning of the night, are you fitting it at 10cm? Or are you fitting it at a higher pressure? Fitting the mask at too low of a pressure can also cause leak problems once the pressure ramps up.

Agree with notion of readjustment after laying down.

Before you plug in, cover the short end of the hose from the mask and try blowing out through your nose. If it leaks while you’re laying down make the adjustment. When do you think you have it in place, then hook into the main hose coming from the CPAP.

I found that I can work out a lot of the leaks when I lay down just by doing it that way.

There’s also a lanolin product in the baby section at Walmart that is labeled as a nipple cream. Don’t be put off by that. A little bit of that stuff can go along way to helping to keep a fit. Lanisoh I believe it’s called. A little goes a very long way.

if you have facial hair, maybe one of the guys can help you with that.

I would be cautious about using lanolin near a memory-foam mask. These masks are hard enough to clean as is.

make sure the mask cushion is not a little too large and/or the crotch of the nose apex is not in the middle of the forehead. I think the mask cushion tends to move up in the night.

Yes, the mask should absolutely not touch there.

If it does it could get tainted. 🤓
