Increased AHI late

Post by Powerhands » Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:46 pm

Hello!
My AHI for the past 3 years is always 1 or lower - nothing to worry about, right! Occasionally, it will spike up to 2, but rarely. For the past 2 months, about every other night, it's spiking to 3, 4, 5, or even 7. An AHI that high is not normal for me. The nights in-between these spikes, my AHI remains at its usual low levels. Here's the weird part - when I go into Oscar to see what's going on, the events are not spread out throughout the night, but rather all of the events (usually CA) occur within a half hour to 45 minutes just before I wake up. The rest of the night is clear.
Is this normal?

Thank you! :)

Might be postural apnea (in addition to the previous apnea). Try a neck brace.

CAs/centrals close to known wake up time are very likely related to being awake or half awake.
Probably arousal related but learn how to zoom in and confirm.

I'm the same way. Most of my events are just before I wake up. And... like you, my AHI's will spike up, but I have had some serious health issues lately, so I attribute my squirrely numbers to my health issues. I've almost stopped looking at my numbers. I have decided that as long as I feel good (Cpap-wise), I don't worry about the numbers too much.
