DS2 Water Chamber & Water Chamber Lid

Post by Grumpy48 » Thu Aug 18, 2022 6:28 pm

Venting a bit of aggravation...........

A short while ago I got notice from my DME I was due to order some supplies. Among the recommended supplies that would be covered by Medicare and my insurance was a water chamber (DreamStation2 Humidifier Water Tank). The one I had is still like new, but none the less having a spare would be a good idea, so I ticked off that box. It arrived and upon opening the package I find that what I received was just the 'DreamStation2 Humidifier Water Tank', but no lid included. Unlike the 'lid' for a Resmed AS10 water chamber that the lid seems attached to the chamber by its hinge, the DS2 lid is completely removable as a separate part and I guess the rationalization is the lid is not a wear and tear component that needs replacement. The silicone seal is on the water chamber could conceivably wear out and leak air. The lid on my previous DS1 was integral to the humidifier and of course wouldn't be replaced routinely, so perhaps the thought process for the DS2 lid was similar. The lid wasn't expensive through an online seller, but simply seems petty that the water chamber isn't resupplied as a complete part with the lid from the DME and perhaps the DME may be to blame for not including it (did not call them which likely would have added to my aggravation and not worth what the lid cost out of pocket). Not sure if there's any way to know if Medicare/insurance dictated that only the water chamber will be covered and not the lid.

The only way to know is to call Medicare.

Just a way for the DME to make more money. As stated many times in the past, The manufacturers don't care about us. Their customer is the DME.

The lid is likely to break before the tank needs replacing.

I believe I've read of a couple occurrences of the lid tabs that hook to the tank breaking off.
