Large leaks are back!!!

Post by Peacenana » Thu Aug 11, 2022 6:58 am

Hello everyone.
I have struggled with mask large leaks in the past. With advice from all of you, I made adjustments like:
Adjusted back of head mask strap
Changed out mask and other equipment frequently
Started wearing a strong chin strap in case I was mouth breathing

All that helped and up to about a month ago, my large leaks were gone and leaking in general was at a minimum. I slept well and felt good.

But a few weeks ago, the large leaks started creeping back. I am at a loss as to why and what can be done. I am attaching last night's OSCAR report. I know they could be worse but I am such a light sleeper that the leaks wake me up and I end up feeling lousy and exhausted the next day.

Suggestions, anyone?
Thanks as always.

No image...
forum attachment storage is full and unless people clean out their own personal attachments no one can attach anything.
I do not have access to personal accounts so that I could remove old attachments.
You will have to host the image on some other website and either link to or embed the images.

Have you confirmed that you aren't opening your mouth by taping it shut? Chin straps can't totally keep the mouth from opening. They simply can't.
If you tape your mouth shut and the leaks don't happen then you have your answer....mouth opening.
If you tape your mouth shut and the leaks still happen then you have a different answer...mask movement for some reason or maybe hole somewhere in the hose.

Dear Pugsy,
I appreciate your help as always. Tried mouth taping - the leaks continued. Last night the large leaks registered at almost 35 and went on throughout the night. For the first time ever, the leak face on the A10 was red. I have tried tons of masks and this is the under the nose is the only one my nose can tolerate (with cotton ball over the spot under my nose that gets so irritated). Tried full face masks but I can't tolerate the pain they cause at the top (ridge) of my nose, far worse than the one under my nose. I am desperate and am considering sleeping without cpap tonight. Will call the local supplier of cpap and see if I can bring the whole unit over to see if there's something wrong. I have tried new hose, mask, etc. to no avail. Is there anything else I can do so I can continue using cpap?
Thanks.
